You should try it from a dig
The mustang does better from a roll than a dig but the camaro should win both.

Might need a better tune as well, not all tunes are the same. You should be walking that car.

Mustangs wind out more on the top end quicker because they rev. to 7000rpm compared to 6500rpm. Dual over head cams breath better at the top. Its the only advantage the Mustang has. You should beat him on a 1/4 mile run providing you get the traction. Our cars have more low end torque. I also assume the Mustang is modded. Your engine is putting out over 500 Net HP and probably about 520+ Gross hp, should whup him good if his is not modded.

Sounds like you need a driver mod. Are you using no lift shift? Try getting a short shifter too

These cars are about bottom end and midrange. 5.0's are all upper midrange to top end pull. I had a 2015 with longtubes, tune, and CAI. It definitely ran harder up top. That's what 24 valves and high rpms do at higher speeds. I run mine at a road course and that's what I'm working on, improving the top end pull. Like others have said, ported MSD, headers, E85, ported 95MM TB, proper tune and you should be rolling. Next step is the right cam. These cars destroy 5.0's from a dig or low speeds. There's always the driver mod talk, but if you're shifting right at redline spot on, there isn't much too it from a roll other than making sure you aren't in too high of a gear. Unless you're spinning.

I concur having had a 15GT/PP it's on the top end from a roll like that and given distance to do it the Mustang, CAN, beat you eliminating all the variables in the drivers and cars. When I wanted to run people I had to hold it in ~3d and you really wanted to be in the 4K range. Low end torque is where the Camaro will walk on a Mustang but given distance he can get you.

And one test drive in my Camaro and I forgot all about my Mustang. Better ride, power where I need it in day to day driving, and the steering and handling blew it out of the water. Oh, and then there's the manual transmission, NO comparison. I put the MGW in my Mustang and it still wasn't impressive. I've ran both at a road course and I would pick my 1SS Camaro any day over the Stang as well. I've owned it now for 2.5 years and all I've done is cut out the secondary cats. Can't wait for my headers/x/ZR1 TB and ported IM to go on.
