Still getting beat by a mustang.

I have a 17ss 6speed manual with cold air intake, headers, e85, and tune. Im making 445hp to the wheel. My friend has a 16gt auto 6speed mustang with headers and cold air intake, tune. Hes still beating me at a 50 roll 2nd gear. Sometimes we are dead even and sometimes hes alittle ahead. should I be winning?

You should try it from a dig

I will assume this is a "track" and not on the open road.

Just a few things to consider:

1. The mustang is designed to turn close to 10,000 rpm and make power up top...
(Last I checked, I don't really follow them all that much)
So the roll run he is already well into the power band of the motor.

2. What is top speed, or top distance.
His auto can shift faster - just the way it is now days.
He has a much tighter gear ratio and applying more torque to get speed up.

3. Are your "nannies" turned off?

4. Are you in "track" mode?

5. How are you starting?
Is it by a marker or horn honk, etc...
Many differences in "timing" on starts.

While I'm not suggesting a "road run" I will pose this.
With him and you agree to do this run. Let him start first and when the back bumper passes the front of your car, then you go. See if you can overtake any part of his car up to finish mark.

Repeat and have him do the same. You start and see if he can overtake you.

This will at least allow each to focus on the road in front instead of sides until the finish mark.

6. Start at 0 mph

Lastly, enjoy your car and forget this "who is faster" issue. It never ends well for anyone involved: Crash, cops, insurance, etc...

Remember these cars have data recorders and that is the first thing insurance checks now days....lets see the last 8 seconds you went from 50mph to 140mph, slammed on your breaks and crashed... claimed a deer jumped into the road, good luck with that.

Go to an actual race track, drag strip and claim your bragging rights with a true time slip instead of road warrior hearsay.

New tuner, or start no-lift shifting

Feel like you should be moving out still being 6spd

Also, you need to be leaving at 4500+ to be a good rolling start. Dont worry she can take it

I asked a question not a life lesson story brother. Track/street doesn’t matter where you race at. It can go bad both ways.

A ported msd intake and 95 mm TB will help your top end a ton. Well as long as you dont short shift. Mine like 6500

Dragstrips let you start racing from a 50 roll now?

Wow that's horrible I beat one of those very slow 16 stangs that was tuned when I was stock. I actually laughed the whole time. I'm Auto though makes a difference and it was from a dig. You being manual especially on a roll shoulda killed him. Could possibly be a driver mod

I raced a stock 16 stang and he got smoked. But my friends headers stang just rips. I dont know. I’ll try a 30 roll and see if there is a difference.

Wow. Awrj2000 put some effort into giving you some thoughtful suggestions, which were not unsolicited, you asked for it in your original post. No need to be a dick about his answer.

As far as it not mattering whether it's track/street, sorry, it does matter. You are on the track voluntarily but there aren't any unsuspecting bystanders to hurt.

Street racing will always be a thing. Just be smart about where you race. Plus get out your feelings lol
