Question Stock LS/LT 18" rims vs SS takeoffs--some observations

Well, I got a set of 20" 5th gen SS wheels with pirelli pzero UHP all seasons for my 2019 LT 2.0T. My thinking was to have the 20s on in the summer and then flip back to the base 18" rims and eagle sport 245 tires in the winter.

I just threw them on today and while they look awesome, I can say without question that they are very noticeably heavier. When I was rolling them around I could tell easily. And then on the car driving, the rotating mass difference is substantial. I really had to get on the throttle more to get the car moving.

So, the base 18" rims with eagle sport 245s are very light. I did not weigh anything, but the difference was big enough that immediately I thought "I want to put the 18's back on."

Another strange thing was that the car sits differently with the 20's. The rear of the car is lower and the nose looks like it is higher. No idea why that would be, considering they are extremely close in total height. This is all at the same PSI of 34-35. I actually had to adjust my seat height to compensate, it was that noticeable.

ANOTHER strange thing, is that width-for-width, the SS wheels/tires don't appear as wide to me. For example, the front 245s--the stock 18/eagle sport combo actually appears wider to my eye. Same with the rears.

I'm so confused and I"m sure its because I don't know much about wheels and tires.

The P-zero UHP all seasons, of course have better performance than the stock eagle sports. But at this point I'm ready to throw my hands up and put the stock 18s back on.

The 5th gen wheels have a slightly different offset, so the won't stick out as far. I have 5th gen 18's for my winter setup, and my stock 6th gen 20's for summer. From what I can gather the 18's with a 245 tire are about 50-52 lbs a piece, and the 20's about 60 lbs with a 245 tire...both the same height with the difference in sidewall. So that's about 30-40 lbs of rotating weight. That's a fairly substantial difference. In fact I'm leaving my 18's on for a few more weeks because I want to hit the track, and I know those 20's won't help lol

So what would I be looking at drag wise? Are the 18’s as wide as the 20’s or what I gain in weight would be lost in grip?

If I'm not mistaken the 5th gen SS 20" wheels are 8.5" front and 9.5" rear. The 6th gen 18's are 8.5" all around. Both on street tires I'm sure you'll be faster on the 18"s due to the weight difference, even if you grip slightly better on the wider rear 20's of the SS wheels.

I put the stock 18's back on today and the difference was quite drastic.
I'd never had the opportunity to straight A/B a heavy vs light wheel on my own vehicle before. Wow. Now I understand why people try to save weight on wheels. It literally felt like I picked up 30 ft/lb when the 18's went back on.

The 20" SS wheels absolutely tanked the performance of my 2.0T.

Reading this and now I'm second guessing myself. I have the stock 245/55R18s on my 2.0T. I was considering going to 245/55/R19s on front and 275/40R19s in back. The overall diameter would decrease by about an inch, and I'd lower the car about an inch. But the weight is what I'm concerned about. I want to get wider in back to put more power down to the ground. I get too much slip on takeoffs. SO many ways to go about this.
