Tuning on a stock car worth it??
Obviously I know I won't gain much in the HP / TQ department, but I'm talking about more of driveability and having a little less aggressive timing pull tables or rich conditions.
Would it deliver a more crisp throttle response and driving experience overall?

You will pick up some HP. Drivability? Not significant enough to void your warranty and repay for further tuning if you add mods down the road.

No way. Don't tune for less than headers/E85.
Buy a throttle controller or ported throttle body if you want to help throttle response.

I have to agree. It's best to do all the upgrades and mods that u plan on doing first. Just for $ sake alone. Any mod u add u going to need to retune to get the benefit out of it.anyone that's into adding hp will always look at hp gained vs cost. At very minimum if your considering tune on a dyno. E85.. intake and headers to make dropping 4 to 600 on a tune worth it. I did all my upgrades at once. Cam, headers, e85, rotofab, heads, dod delete, and springs. Still waiting for appointment at Vegence but they did my base tune and it was on point. Cause car very drivable even with just base tune. Highly recommend the one in cumming ga.

I personally have not been able to improve drive ability at all with a ECM or TCM tuning. That's not to say someone who understands the GM torque based control strategy better than I do or someone with better tools with access to more parameters may be able to though.
I have also not been able to confirm any more power through tuning, I did confirm about 25-29 rwhp peak from E75 and about 5 rwhp peak from NPP in track vs stealth. The biggest drive ability problems being the unnecessarily hard low throttle shifting, overly sensitive and jerky low speed stop and go driving, and the extremely sensitive 50-75% throttle range. I have also tried using the CTS-V parameters, nothing seems to help or even make a difference when changing any of the parameters. Its hard to do unless you have your own personal proving grounds and engine dyno and multi million dollar lab equipment to confirm results, without that its just really good guesses and subjective trial and error. |

Power? Not really. After JRE tuned my car it ran better. Just better. I think its worth it. YMMV

Far as ECM, 93 tune is worth 8-10whp tops. E85 flex fuel tune is worth 25-30whp
Far as TCM, not much to do on a manual. On a A8 3-4 tenths can be gained from a good TCM tune. Driveability can be much improved on over stock as well. Moral of the story. Stock M6 SS on 93 octane...not worth tuning unless you do flex fuel.

E85 is worth the tune. but with a manual there is no other reason to tune until you do headers or E85. both really wake the car up.

The camaro does not suffer from same issues. I barely felt any torque managment, shifts were perfect. It was almost difficult to believe it was the exact same drivetrain. I definitely would not tune a stock car. |

My trans tune makes a stock Camaro feel like a turd. Either way OP has a manual so Automatic talk is moot.
