Strange clicking, need help, not clunking

I've searched the forums, new to the Camaro, but after a pull I've developed a clicking noise and frequency change with speed. Coming from rear driver side wheel area. Sounds like metal clicking, but raided the car, put it in gear, and no clicking, it is lowered, very low. When I turn left and relieve pressure off the wheel it stops, and if I turn right and load the left side, it is worse...has anyone experienced this? Could it be the washers that I've read before? Thanks in advance.

you may want to look at how much free play is in the axle joints. I had a clicking on left rear and it was the outer axle flex joint worn out.

Do you have a ZL1 diff? If not, some guys have been able to get some Z28 axles which are the strongest factory axle available for the 10 bolt. Although, at that price I would just step up to some GForce Renegades.

I don't have the zl1 diff, I thought I read somewhere that the stock zl1 would fit with no mods to the diff? Wrong info?

Yes, ZL1 axles only work with a ZL1 diff. The end that goes in the diff is the show stopper. The outers will slide into any of the V8 hubs, although the ZL1/Z28 hub is recommended if you are really producing power that requires a ZL1 diff. ZL1/Z28 hubs are beefier all around and are actually a good upgrade for any V8 Gen5.

C5-C6 Corvettes are bad about clicking when backing out or pulling forward, the splines in the axles where they go through the hub rust up. I hear my ZL1 do it with the windows down. It's almost like a cracking sound.

I would retorque the axle nuts if that doesn't fix it pull the axles out of the hub, clean them along with the hub splines and use motorcycle chain wax as lube when you put it back together.

Blue Loctite the nut if you reuse it.

Look on Corvette Forum for more info.

Yeah, I agree, must be an issue with the axle shaft. When I replaced mine, they were making all kinds of noise. At first, I replaced them with cheap rock auto axles, and they actually made more noise than the old stock axles. So then I replaced them with the OEM AC Delco and presto, all the noise was gone. I even bought an extra set before they were all gone. Also, they say that the axle nut is a onetime use, but we have reused the nut on my son's C5 like 4 times with no problems. But we did use an impact though.

Okay, so I'll find some replacement axels, i can't afford the 1k hp ones, but I'm not quite there yet, and since the axels are the only thing left stock right now, I'll put stock back on for now and save for some 1k hp ones later down the road. Since I'm there, I'll throw in new hubs too...thanks for all the help!

Well stock doesn't mean OEM AC Delco. If your getting anything else your likely just wasting your money. Been down that road before and like I was trying to say with the Chinese axles you got a 50/50 chance weather or not they will still make noise or not. I would take a good pair of used ac delco before I would use a foreign made axle that's how bad they are. But maybe you'll get lucky.

He doesn't have a ZL1 Diff so at this time he can't use them. You would think someone would produce a quality replacement axle for the guy's that don't need the 1K plus ones.
