12V Accessory Plug Lid Removal

Hello, I have a 2023 1LE.. does anyone know how to gently removed the spring loaded lid to the 12v accessory "cigarette lighter" located down by the shifter? I wanted to put a gadget cover on without the lid, but I don't want to just rip off the lid.

Sorry if this is a weird question, but you already have a cover, the lid you want to remove. Is it the hinge that is a problem? Are you trying to squeeze in a USB charger that is too tall and the lid doesn't close? If that is the problem, there are several that fit and allow the lid to close fully, e.g. this one that I use (works perfect): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLYX8SHZ

I just want to put something else in there and not have the lid sticking up. Was hoping I could remove it without breaking it.

If that's all you want, I would suggest trying the one that has been mentioned. I just ordered one also as the compact one I have is a little too big.

Did you end up figuring out how to remove it? I know what you want to do. I just want the dual usb charging port available without having the lid open all the time as I will be using it for lighting. I also bought on/off switches for the lights.

These are the socket removal instructions, which means the cover is built-into the actual console.

This is what I have now:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLYX8SHZ

And I have a 10' USB-C cable that routes around the passenger side console, between the console and rear seat (fits snugly), then routes back up the driver's side for my use.

What I had before stuck out too far:

Same here, it's perfect. However, OP may want to avoid having to deal with the flapper when something is plugged into one of the ports.
