Maybe the VSS-R chassis can also support ice? I think most would accept an EV Camaro that had optional ICE. There is a next gen v8 coming for the trucks.

Instead of a coupe, the next Gen of EV Camaros should just be an EV line of industrial garbage trucks. gm could lead the way, and beat Tesla to an untapped EV market.

I'd even be willing to pay MORE to get them. As in, go ahead and make the EV standard and if you want a V8 that's $5,000 and if you want a manual that's another $2500. GM..... Mary Barra...... Mark Reuss...... are you listening? Are you reading this? I'll pay you for the friggin CAFE fine, just gimme the damn V8 stick!

They are not going to make a coupe. If they remake it will be a 4 door camaro styled EV, like the chevy version of the ct4.
The whole allure of this car is the V8. Even if you couldn't afford the V8, it was something aspirational. And if you had the V8, there was the ZL1. If you're shopping for an electric car, you're looking for an appliance. That's not the history of the Camaro, and that's not a Camaro buyer. GM knows this, so they will water down the nameplate to something mass market.

That said, saying "no one wants them" is too low and easy a ball to attack, there is way more nuance to this. For starters, Tesla has a cult of followers who will buy and "guerrilla market" their vehicles almost no matter what the manufacturer does (though if Musk keeps on putting more distance between him and the woke mob, the tables may turn), even the Roadster debacle is automatically forgiven—Tesla did carve out a niche with a well defined and placed product, and is still growing as a result. At the same time, predictably, there is no non-Tesla EV in this top 25 chart, so "no one wants them" does hold water, just not one carrying the Tesla brand.

This is exactly why GM is doing it. Still BS if you ask me. Look at the Mustang "Mach E" or the new Chevy Blazer, just to name a couple. Neither of those are true representations of those names.

Or. . . worst case scenario, "Camaro" takes over for the trim level of the highest performance Blazer EV.

Second, Tadge Juechter is Executive Chief Engineer for Corvette and has not been reassigned. Third, you probably meant Al Oppenheimer who WAS Chief Engineer on Camaro and took the opportunity to lead the GMC Hummer program. Your assumption that he was reassigned by Mary is likely false. As a career opportunity, it was very likely something he sought for himself.
