Where to get the Chevrolet Rear Parking Sensor ?
Hello everyone,
So I just bought a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE 2017. It has the reverse camera but... no parking sensor. As it's not a small car, and outside visibility is not great, I'm always in stress when parking it (my current parking sport is very difficult). So I was wondering, if there is an "official" Chevrolet rear parking sensor kit for the 6th gen Camaro (that will be displayed on the infotainment screen as well as the reverse camera). By the way, I live in France, so there is no Chevrolet dealership anymore who can answer me... and I couldn't find anything on the forum or Facebook groups I would be very thankful if someone could help me with this. Worse case scenario... I'll but a Valeo Beep and Park kit with the additional screen. Thanks ! Last edited by AntoineFRS; 07-29-2023 at 01:51 PM. Reason: Image issue |

Antoine, let me offer heartfelt congratulations on your purchase of such an exquisite vehicle. This is a 2017 1SS 1LE, which unfortunately does not have much in the way of safety features from the factory, you would need to step up to a 2018 2SS 1LE to get these parking radar sensors, motion sensors and a blind spot monitoring system.
I don't think these systems are impossible to retrofit, but there is no official upgrade kit, so it's gonna be an uphill battle to power through in France. Not only do you have to obtain the missing parts, add/rewire harnesses, drill holes in the rear bumper very precisely, find attachment points for your new wiring etc., you would probably also have to source a different BCM (body control module), and, worst of all, have someone, perhaps in Germany or Belgium with access to GM internal programming tools and willingness to "lego together" a set of software updates, then reprogram your car's computer system without any service authorization. If I were you, I'd get an aftermarket front/rear curb beeper and call it a day, enjoying the car instead of worrying about all this headache. Alternatively, if I were super rich in France, I'd trade the car and get a 2018 2SS 1LE

Ahah Thanks a lot for your input.
Well, I was already thinking that it would be "Impossible Mission", but thanks for confirming that with all the details. Unfortunately I'm not rich enough (yet) but barely rich enough to buy this one which cost me nearly 57.000 euros or 63.000 USD (thank you French government for all the taxes). So I think I'll go aftermarket then. |

You can ask here:
https://www.customkingz-performance.de/ Or here: https://www.cobra-cn.de/ Both companies are in Germany and specialized on american cars. |
