Is my 2019 Zl1 slow?
Hey yesterday I took my 2019 A10 Zl1 to the drag strip for the first time. The car has about 1200 miles on it. Out of 4 runs the best I was able to get was 12.1 @ 113. I was having trouble beating scatpacks. My buddy in the stock hellcat was getting low 11s with a 122 trap! I guess I was spinning too much any idea on what's the best setting for launching this car? And is it normal to have such a low trap?

Unless it was crazy hot out (increasing your DA), that does seem low for trap speed. For reference with an M6 (super hard to launch) I ran a 12.59@ 116MPH at 6000ft elevation (and over 7000DA) in my ZLE which is actually slower than the regular ZL1 due to aero drag.

The precision in the manufacturing process today means they are not randomly producing factory freaks or factory duds. So look to track conditions, weather and/or the driver. Sounds like you just may need some more seat time is all.

I ran a 12.01, in a 2019 A10, up here @6k altitude so yes, that is pretty slow. I think you probably just need more seat time.

It would be worth checking if the heat exchanger needs to be bled, you can test in your driveway with very simple tools.

Date and time of the event. Weather data, track data. Was your buddy scatpack on drag radials? Type of tire you were using? How many times have you been to this track? How many times have you been to a track? How long did you wait between passes? A10 or 6 speed? Scatpack 1320 edition? What was your reaction time? 60' 330? Lots of questions to answer before we can help! |

People are suggesting things that affect your same-day opponents as well, so I'm not sure why those would be a factor (track, ambient, etc). I would consider your tire pressure / temperature on those runs. Also, if you haven't already, up your knowledge of launch control and line lock, mentioned in the Owner's Performance Supplement.

Your engine is not broken in yet. It will get faster as it breaks in. The piston rings are kinda tight. Give it time. Most engines start creating the most HP around 10k miles.

Your 60 foot is shit awful...pretty much like mine with the M6, but you should have less excuse with the A10.

I'm no expert at reading timeslips these days, but the rule of thumb used to be that one tenth in the 60 ft was worth two tenths overall, so i would suspect getting 60ft down to or below 2.00 would net you an ET in the high 12s. That will come with seat time, I wouldn't sweat ETs too much, yet.
I have to agree with the other folks here in thinking your trap speed seems low especially given the location (it wasn't really that hot here in the midwest yesterday.) Again I'm no expert but that seems say 5-10mph slow given the weather conditions we had yesterday. Old drag racing math says you are down 50-100hp which is pretty significant. Might be worth investing in an obd2 data logger in addition to checking the telemetry data embedded in PDR footage (if you have the PDR.) |

I understand the 12.1-12.8 due to the lousy 60'. but the trap speed is way way low. the DA was only 2400 that day. Those are stock SS trap speeds.
