Eaton / Whipple on track (twisties)
Heyup Guy's
Firstly apologies not got a Camaro, I have an Rx7 with a Zl1 (10l90) dropout, going in. Im trying to work out how you guys are dealing with heat on the track, I was eyeing up the interchillers, but both CSP and forced induction interchillers have advised it (well to be specific advised is only really a drag solution, which doesn't really appeal to me). I had thought I would be ok with a smaller pulley and and interchiller on the circuit (trackdays) for 20m sessions at a time. I would love long term to go procharger, but not sure it will fit or will look overly cramped. I had planned on keeping the eaton and buying parts that could be transferred to a whipple (like the interchiller) at a later date. Better give you some pics to entice some replys :-) |

Yep! If I was going to do an import it would be this! Wow, that’s an amazing
Project. Knew a guy with an RX7 wide body that had a built LS7 making 600hp. He got a lot of clack from the JDM ppl but none of their rotary little turbo cars could Keep up with it. The ZL1 has huge front end openings for cooling so you will need to make sure you are getting enough air through the front end. |

Cheers Dude,
Yeah thats one of the reasons i wanted to stay PD, dont really want to stick a intercooler infront of the rad, We dont get anywhere near the heat America gets summer is usually a max of 28oc (82.4) on very rare occasions. This will be the 1st Lt4 FD, (to my knowledge) Regards Neil |

Unreal!!! I had a ‘93 RX7 and now I’ve got a ZLE. You’ve got the best of both worlds right there!

Cheers Dude,
I fell in love with the engine / trans when i saw the ZL1 round the nurburgring. If the eaton can cope round that Im sure I can cope with me. Regards Neil |

You won't need a smaller pulley, your car is about 1000 lbs (453kgs) lighter than the Camaro so that thing is gonna scream to say the least. I'd just focus on cooling as is and traction.
Great build! |

Yeah getting an AEM kit, Quote:
Thanks, yeah pulley is probably me being greedy, I have a race logic TC from my old LS3 FD along with 335 R888 that will be going on, hopefully that will keep all in check, So is the Interchiller a waste of time for my application,

for sure some good radiators but either the interchiller or meth will help a bunch with cooling. No clue which would be better on a track tho. Also consider the Mag 2.3 supercharger. I’ve heard it has better cooling than the whipple.

Your car looks awesome!
On topic - I'd love to hear some reviews on the interchiller for track use. Seems that they're only being used in short runs (1/4 mile/standing mile). Looking at your car - can you get another hood and vent it? Getting the hot air out is critical.
