I went to their shop last summer.
Very impressive.
I'm thinking of having them do some work on my car.

For me, Katech is significantly over priced. I get it they are good at what they do and known in the industry. That said some of their performance kits are almost 2 times more expensive than Livernois for the same kit, the difference is you get more with Livernois than you do with KaTech.

But it's like buying a ZR1, when all you really need is a 7th gen Camaro ZLE.

They do good work, but I just feel they charge way to much for it.

My factory crank also cracked after spinning a rod bearing. I believe my issue was related to my turbos scavenge pump aerating the oil at the oil pump pick up. Since changing that and rebuilding I haven't had any issues. What is the rebuild plan? Factory LT1 cranks weren't available when I needed one. Rather than going really big, I got an L8T crank from scoggin dickey, and paired it with some texas speed drop in rod and pistons. You will have to modify or delete the piston oil squirters if you go this route or any stroker for that matter.

This is how I feel about all the name brand shops in the 6th Gen industry. I’m sure Katech and all the other popular shops do excellent work, but I just can’t stomach paying 12k+ for a heads cam package. I’d rather take the 12k, add a couple grand to it and just pick up a zl1 (after selling my 2ss 1le of course) If I decide 100+ more horsepower.

If I find a local shop that doesn’t charge 5 digits for a heads cam package I may go that route one day.

Waiting to hear back from the Machinist. Should have more details then.

But the intention is a stock rebuild, and add cam, dod delete, TCM unlock tune and e85 tune. My ultimate goal is ZL1 power but NA, and that's what I told them. What I get at the end of the day remains to be seen.

glad to see youre getting it back on the road. nothing cheap about performance stuff, thats for sure. and the wrong shop only makes it that much more difficult.
