Well, maybe they didn't fix it for the 19 and 20's

This was one of the hand built LT4's from Bowling Green.

Yikes! 15,000 miles is the "sweet spot" mileage for pump failure.

You might want to put in your vote for the 2019 in this poll then.

Why not ask the OP add 2020 instead?

Any chance they may have used an old oil pump instead of the updated one?

I'm sure the engine builder used whatever pump the factory provided to him. The problem is the shit quality of the pump internals, which goes back to both design and manufacturing of the pumps. It could be that GM prescribed everything about the pump materials and construction, or the pump supplier made the determination. All of us will never know.

There will always be random issues in any year model. The trend shows 2017 and 2018 most affected which indicates there was a consistent issue in those two model years.

Yes, but my understanding so far is that the oil pump has been updated several times since 2017/18. Is there any way to find out the oil pump version on this latest failure?

I ordered the car in early December 2019. Remember there was a GM strike September 15 to October 25 of that year. This may have been a left over 2019 build for a ZO6.

Hopefully... I mean I am very sorry for your car and I hope you get everything sorted very soon. But I was under the impression that this oil pump issue was something of the past...

Because those 2 already posted as 2019 may have been a 2020 or 2021, and also because the pump was last revised in 2019 as far as I can tell. Setting it to 2019+ would actually be a better idea (if renaming/relabeling poll choices is allowed by this forum engine).
