So all my cars i have owned have been straight piped. Catless headers and muffler deletes. I drive my new 2018 2ss with open valves and it is way to quiet for me. So thursday i will be doing a second cat delete and muffler delete. Ive heard in person and very aggressive v8 sound. Me personally i like it. But i know its not for everyone.

I just went from a 17 non npp 1ss exhaust to the mbrp quad tip. It’s at a point where I’m definitely going through a getting used to the sound period.

Ok that helps. I was wondering if one Could save $$ by getting non npp and removing muffler to get a similar track mode sound. Thank you.

Keep in mind if you have to go from the dual tip to the quad, you need to replace your rear diffuser which included removing the back bumper. The cost of the new diffuser plus the axle backs together where about 700. Did the work myself.

If you're sticking with dual tips then yes there is plenty money to be saved. If you want quad tips then it may be a wash. I've seen folks just cut out the extra space and others having to do a little more.

I have non npp exhaust and have removed the mufflers. $100 and I love the sound. It’s a little loud at cold start but very happy with it. Left all stock cats alone and the drone is not bad at all on the highway.

I did not remove the bumper for the rear diffuser install. My diffuser also looks pretty decent for under 200 dollars.

Yeah it seems that all exhaust noise and drone goes away on the highway when it drops into v4 mode. Once you step on the gas again you hear a little buzzing.

I'm curious as to the answer of the OP's original question??? Can anyone speak to the sound of a non NPP muffler delete vs. an NPP open valve sound?

Muffler delete sounds the same regardless of NPP or Non-NPP.

Muffler delete is much louder than open valve NPP. Muffler delete will also have some drone on the expressways while cruising. It’ll sound badass under throttle though.

This will give you an idea of what a muffler delete sounds like vs non-npp muffler. Electric cutouts are basically a muffler delete with an on/off switch.
