Probably going to do this soon, just want to make sure I get the right stuff,
88862624 (ACDelco 10-4034 Dexron LS 75W-90 Gear Oil) is what the manual says I need, do I also need to add the limited slip additive? looks like 1.2 quarts of fluid needed that all ?

From the research I've done on this... It's already in it. That's what the LS stands for.

Gen 5 Camaro and Gen 6 Corvette required an additive even though the oil was "LS". However, the current "LS" oil in the the current GM performance rear axle requires no additive. This information is and has always been in the Owner's Manual. No guessing required. |

my 18 2ss with 5500 miles has developed the rear diff groan. gonna take it to the dealer once it starts getting cooler. it only happens on the rare morning it gets really cool. so until it can be reliably reproduced on a cool morning im just gonna wait.

The common denominator in most if not all of theses cases seem to be cooler weather so probably a viscosity issue. I would guess people in hotter climates need not worry as much.

So, it certainly won't hurt, and in this case, may even prevent a known issue. My advice is to change it. You will be surprised at what comes out after break-in. |
