Wilwood Rotor Rings on 1LE SS?
I did a search and didn’t find any results. Has anyone tried the Wilwood replacement rotor rings in their 1LE SS or ZL1?

Asking all of this for a friend with a 2017 1LE SS, and I am a potential future 1LE SS owner, so all feedback is appreciated. Last edited by FollowMyLine; 01-14-2018 at 09:46 AM. I believe those rotors are to be used with their hats on their big brake kits. Without the rest of the kit they won't work. I have their kit, and they perform well on the road course but after 30 or so race hours the fronts are at minimum thickness and will need to be replaced before next season. This wear is mostly from the use of the polymatrix H compound pad full time...even while daily driving the car. I would recommend their stuff but with the 1LE already having good brakes I would work through GM and get the rotors for that setup.

DBA makes replacement rings for the SS 1LE brakes. Glamcem documented it very well, look in his build thread for part numbers. That said, the rings alone aren't much less than buying new OEM complete rotors w/hats. Most of the online GM parts places don't have SS 1LE updated, so search for ATS-V front rotors, they're identical.
SS 1LE rotors are 370mm diameter, roughly 14.6", FYI.

another place you may wanna try.... if nothing has come to fruition.... is TCE Performance. Todd specializes in braking for almost any car. they usually do wilwood kits, or piece together kits for cars that otherwise would never have em. hes done everything from caliper only kits with stock rotors, to 2 piece rotors for stock calipers, and full 4-6 piston setups for all the odd cars that most don't even bat an eye at.
getting a rotor hat and disc combo to fit is something he would be able to help with. on the charger, I ran the W6a 6 pistons on SRT stock rotors, with the mount he designed and milled. it was a big seller on the LX forums. and I went through him for the Aero6 caliper setup for the 2013 Camaro LS I had, before the 6th gen. worth a shot if there is interest.

Looks like the DBA rotor rings for the Corvette are the way to go. Also, looks like RacingBrake has a solution, albeit very expensive.

Does anyone have a measured drawing of the stock rings? Coleman racing will be able to make rings. I've gotten rotors from them for a couple of different cars. They can quote from a drawing of you can send in an old ring.

Wilwood brakes
Wilwood aero 6 kit, this picture was taken after 1 weekend at Sebring Fl (track weekend with nasa hpde 4) I bought this kit new from wilwood.
DO NOT BUY Wilwood Brakes... Wilwood Customer services are the worse! Brembo are the best! I’ll install my brembos back! Don’t make the same expensive mistake. Last edited by JC 1LE; 02-09-2019 at 07:15 AM. |
