I’m planning a trip with my Camaro to the Tail of the Dragon this June and wondering where to stay. We will be coming from Camaro Nationals in Maryland and coming up I81 to I40 to start on the east side of the Tail near Deals Gap. This will be our first time at the Tail so for those who have been there where is a good place to stay on the east side in NC?

Fontana Village Resort is real nice, on 28, about 8 miles from Deals Gap...cool place, stay there all the time.

When I go I stay in Ashville which is a 2 hour drive to the NC side of the gap. Its a nice ride all around and the hotels are nice all around the casino.

Yeah, every road within many miles of the Dragon is great. No reason to stay so close to Deal's Gap. Don't pass up the Cherohala Skyway, 28, 360, 68, 64, 441... I think you get the idea.

I just reserved a room at the Fontana Village Resort. It looks like a pretty nice facility with lots to do! I’ve been researching the maps and area attractions and the roads look AMAZING! I’m really psyched to be able to drive my Camaro on The Dragon as well as around the Smokies! Can’t wait!

I’ll be staying in Fontana Village which is on 28! Definitely the Skyway and a few others! Only have 3 days so I’ll make the most of it!

You'll have a great time! Also there will be several professional photographers along the road. You can get some great pics from their websites.

Here are the three sites where I found pics of my car:

It took a couple of days after the day I ran the Dragon for the shots to be posted. I ran up and back twice (11 miles one way for a total of 44 miles).
With that - I found 24 different shots of my car. So, lots to pick from.

There is a nice guy at the village named Dylan, he runs all the activities and the fires at the pits at night.

We've been on the Dragon countless time with 7 different motorcycles.
In July we'll be doing it in the Camaro on the way to Camarofest!
