True to Chevy form the Camaro is a much better value and really not that far off on performance. Would love to get these two on a proper road course.

Just read it myself and was going to post it and you beat me to it LOL.. great read and puts the GT500 right where it should be, too much money and doesnt do a anything better than the ZL1 1LE other than 1/4 mile and that was expected with 760 underated horses. Wish the ZL1 1LE was a little underrated HP wise and the GT500 was a little overrated HP wise.

This is what I expected. Also, we will need to look at the reliability of the GT.

19k more before mark-up. Yeah, I think we're good...
That's loaded out Z06 territory. |

The ZLE seemed to be easier to pilot, too. I know the DSSV is harsh, but it does keep things planted. The GT500 seemed a bit loosie-goosie in some of the handling situations.

Some track times would have been nice as well, but interesting read none the less. The takeaway was Camaro wins by virtue of being a better value. Interesting

Looks like a ZL1/E is only a 2650 away from smacking that imp pretty good. You have to make all that power work in order for it to give results, and the snake just can't use it until higher speeds. I've been thinking that while more power is usually almost always good, making better use of what you have, and being efficient, can be pretty dang effective. I think this test bears that out. Instead of putting more money in the engine, GM spent the money on the driveline, and it seems to me to blend of the A10 and the e'diff are what keep Camaro pretty much on par around a track with the over-priced snake.
I'd, of course, always want Camaro to knock the teeth out of the serpent, but I don't feel bad at all about the results. I'll keep the better chassis and just add a little more power to even things up even more.

..."but the more affordable ZL1 1LE manages to match or surpass the Shelby's performance while offering a much longer list of features. Spend the stack of money saved on gas and Goodyears. You're going to need them."

All these years in the making and still could not flat out beat the ZL1. Well done Chevy.....well done.

The trap speeds and time to 150 are telling. The GT500 will run away and hide on the straights. The ZL1 needs the LT5.
Lap times would've been interesting. |

I'm wondering how much the 1LE Aero had an effect on being 4 seconds slower to 150. How much closer would the ZL1 have been?...
