Newbie/2019 ZL1
Hey all just happy to be here on the forum. Wanted to introduce myself. Names Joe and just picked up my 6 speed 2019 ZL1. Traded in my 2018 GT350 for it and couldn't be happier. Blows the 350 out of the water in every category, except maybe exhaust note. I actually love the ZL1 stock exhaust though and would like it even better then the stock GT350 exhaust. Just needs to be a couple clicks louder in sport/track mode and it would be perfect. The build quality, interior, tech and performance all just made the shelby disappear in my mind. Did I mention performance, lol - love the new car.
I know a lot of people don't like the new rear end and tail lights on the 19's and I was the same way when I was looking at these cars. Only looking for 18's pretty much. Then I actually went and looked and drove my 19 and the lights just grew on me big time. There much better in person and I really liked them on the black exterior. Anyways love them now and prefer them a lot to the previous models. On another note got an awesome deal. I paid an unheard of 53k for my almost 62k shelby ten months ago and got an amazing 53k trade in allowances for my ZL1 ( so yea broke even on that, awesome! ). Then I got 2k off sticker ( mrsp 66,560), another 3k in rebates and almost 2300 off for military rebate and discount. Paid a little more then 59k. Super pumped about it too!! I have had a ton of mustangs including cobras, GT500, 5.0's, the GT350, etc..... Also a few camaro's including two 2013 ZL1's. Had a Hellcat challenger and Hellcat charger as well. Ill say this the ZL1 is definitely the top of the food chain. Can't wait to see how she stacks up against the new GT500. Will be interesting. Well that's good for now - hello everyone! Congrats! Welcome to the forum.
And unlike some others, I don't think the taillights look that bad. I just hate what that they did to the front of the SS and LT for 2019. Looks too much like a Toyota. You will really enjoy this car. I know I love mine.

Congrats and welcome to the club. Coming from one great car(GT350) to another you're in good company as there are many who made the same jump.....Im sure you will love the bottomend torque compared to the GT350.
Great age we live in, with all the great cars available right now from a number of brands.

I love my ZL1. Always looking for a chance to drive mine. I like the 19 for a couple reasons. Updated infotainment system, and the updated cluster. The lights are not bad but better than buying black 1LE taillights for a new car like I did. I dont like the red ones much on a grey car especially. Nice you dont have to really worry about that in 19.
Great car and in my opinion can't be beat for the money. I can even fit my family in it for trips put to the mall or something. Chevy really did a great job on these and made an affordable powerful and capable all around car. You can tract, drag race its or street race it. Enjoy it, Mine is a manual also. Really enjoy the manual on these really great fun. |

I always like seeing another GT350 to ZL1 conversion project. As I am of the same mindset. I agree with what you said about the GT350 exhaust note, but then that does not make it perform better. I have not grown any attachment to the '19's tail lights, but it is still a ZL1. The baddest ass Camaro ever built. What is not to like???

One noob to another, welcome!
Gawd I love this car. Now..... every day I come back from lunch hoping I get pole position at the left turn light back to the office, today I did! Wait for it.....wait for it.... BAM! Get squirly on takeoff, clear the oncoming traffic to the left, then SLAM it, nice swooping left up and over a crest then a harder right down into a subtle cambered dip at about 80, then a hard right sliding it around the curb (with a wide open runoff area in case I lose the back end), then a 100mph straight for a quarter mile, then whoop, left into the lot, and she's the jewel in a sea of Fords! Ahhhhhh, lunchtime. |

Thank you everybody for the warm welcoming. Much appreciated!!
My buddy asked why I would get rid of my shelby for the zl1. He says its not like I don't like your new car but I know you loved that Shelby? I said Ry let me give it to you like this - the condensed version. " Every time I got in the Shelby and drove it I got a smile from ear to ear cause its that awesome. Now with the Zl1 I have that same smile only with a rock hard bonner. Lol lol" Some times this is the best way to get through to my thick yet loved best buddy. He totally understands now. |
