Stock 305/30-20 tire mounting cost

Found a rear used set of tires with about 50% tread life left for $30 bucks. Would it even be worth getting this set of tires considering cost of mount & balance? What are you guys paying for mount and balance these days on these low profile tires?

Figured for 30 bucks it wouldn't be bad to have a spare set, and even at half tread life I could squeeze a few thousand miles out of them. I wouldn't feel as bad burning through these also 😆

Are these GY F1s? If yes $30 for both, or for any good high perf summer tire from Michelin, GY, BS, etc is a steal.

Mounting at good tire shops in LA is ~$25/tire. I only go to great shops because average ones can tear a bead destroying your tire

I made the mistake of using a Chevy dealer for my ZLE tire swap, destroyed a low miles rear F1 3R. Biggest dealer in LA I think, denied all responsibility, first time tire came off and they claimed it was on the wheel from factory with a torn up bead. Acually implied I had removed it myself, and added that evicence of this was that I came in with Tire Rack tire/wheel covers to transport my removed tires--because removing tires at home (using a screwdriver I suppose), is something that "tire cover guys" do

$25 a tire dude. Touch less machines are the shit. I’ve never seen one used but if you can take it to one I would.

If you go to Costco, $15 a tire. Wheels came back in perfect condition.

Bought my PS4’s from Costco and had them mounted at my home by a high end mobil shop that has the best equipment available. $140 total. It was worth it for peace of mind.
Costco has conventional machines, I suppose if someone is careful and takes their time your OK but that would be the exception and not the rule. At Discount tire, I rarely ever got anything properly balanced, speed is their ONLY game.
Our wheels whether the 20’s or 19’s are easy to mess up with such low profile tires, be careful who you choose is my only advice.

I would snap.
This makes me nervous. The day my car arrived at the dealer i ordered a set of Z28 rims with new PS4S tires. All the rims haven’t arrived yet. So afaik the tires and rims they do have aren’t mounted yet.
Yesterday I just found out a close friend had a tire bead get screwed up on his Cadillac ATS rim. He had new tires installed at same dealer I got my car, one wheel not holding air, brings it back, head is screwed. They won’t take responsibility.
Now I’m kinda worried.
Actually it’s been 3 weeks since I’ve ordered these rims and tires. I’m beginning to wonder if they have tried to mount tires and maybe screwed up and know it???

We use these https://www.hunter.com/tire-changers/revolution at dealership. Mounting tires, especially wide low profile tires way easier. By far the hardest tire we do is a rear Z06 wheel and tire.

Yes these are Goodyear F1s. I couldn't turn down the seal at $30 for a used pair. Thanks for all of the feedback! Sounds like it will be well worth it in the long run. Eventually I want to get PS4s all around.
