I'm sensing a small amount of bias here.

Z06,
If I could’ve fit in it comfortably would’ve ended up with that in the first place. Back issues killed it for me, can’t bend like I used to. Lol |

Well, I've chimed in here several times for debates just like this. I had a full bolt on SS 1LE and was shopping between the ZL1, ZL1 1LE and a C7 Z06. I'm sure you can see which one I chose. My SS 1LE was already my second 6th gen and I had test driven ZL1's on several occasions and just simply wasn't all that impressed with it after coming from a full bolt on SS 1LE. I was hoping it would wow me but, it didn't. I test drove a C7 Z06 and the rest is history on that one.
Many of the driving dynamics seem very familiar as you can tell that GM tuned the chassis for both vehicles. Although the consensus about the Alpha chassis being better is spot on. It is more confidence inspiring, stable and predictable. But, if you can get the chassis under control (I got a DSC Sport V4 magnetic ride controller) it can be sublime. If you can find a screaming deal on a C7 Z06, go drive it and see what you think. The second I took it out on the road, I knew that it was the right choice.

Thanx everyone. Great perspectives....
Come to find out, my wife didn't give me permission to have both cars when she saw the price for the Z06 with Z07 pack. Sooo......I have traded my Hot Wheels for a 2019 Sebring Orange Z06/Z07, with the agreement that I can get a ZL1 Vert if and when they stop making it or the leave the alpha chassis. So I guess we pushed the "two Hot Rods" discussion ahead a few years. I'm going to hold her to the point of a ZL1 on this awesome chassis though. If they quit making the Camaro......the two car collection will be the last of the FE Vette and the last of the Gen 6 Camaro, which will be cool. However....if they go to a Gen 7 Camaro....I hope they keep the Alpha chassis and it will a based on the availability of the manual trainy at that point. Until then....thanx for the great time and awesome information on this forum. You all have been truly helpful. Wish me luck in C7 land. ....and oh....the dog's name is Bandit and he's not speaking to me now for posting the pic. HD

I'd rather have a GEN6 SS 1LE than either a ZL1 of C7Z. I've said it many times before but I perfer my GM's N/A and my Fords boosted. Especially with GM halfstepping with the LT4's seriously compromised blower. Even when it first came out its blower was outclassed by what Ford and Dodge was offerings. (I think Hellfat was introduced around the same time as the C7Z) GM should of quit making excuses about hood clearance and thrown a TVS2300 on it. You couldn't manage a 1.5"-2" cowl hood? Might of resulted in less heatsoak issues if they would of used a more efficient blower. 13/14 GT500 had it. But personally I've just never been a C7 fan. If you were to say, "low mileage C6Z Centennial, or ZL1" I would say C6Z all day long. Even a base C6Z for the prices they go for I likely would choose over the newer cars. Kind of surprised that I picked up my 1LE over a C6Z as I've always said I was going to get one some day.
Between a ZL1 of C7Z IDK. For an all out fast car the Z06. I'd rather have a ZL1 1LE than either a C7Z or base ZL1. |
