Guy that used to work for me was a big import nut, a lot of his friends as well. They were all doing big T3/T4 set ups on their little 4-bangers. He asked me one day what he should do with his little DX V-TEC. I walked over to my used pile of parts & pulled out a little T3 & said, “We’ll throw this on there for ya.” “But that’s way smaller than what everyone else is doing.” “Yup.”

Made a manifold & DP for him & he picked up a used small little FMIC & an adjustable FMU off eBay. When it was done he smoked all of his buddies with that squirty bastard. While they were waiting to spool up he was gone. It was even his wife’s DD.

I agree on the ZL1 as an option, though I know it’s not for everyone, for obvious reasons.
Yes those turbos were too big for a M6 4,000+ lb. SS with the huge grave digger 5th gen ZL1 Diff. The bigger turbos were $2K cheaper than smaller ballbaring turbos. Of course I wanted to go faster and save $$. So without a 2 step I was launching that 2 ton car and an essentially stock LS3. An average run was high to occasional mid 11s @ 128-130 MPH.

It would have been a better 1/2 mile car.

Agreed! which is why I went from an A10 ZL1 to a m6 LT1. This A10 is by far the best hi po automatic I ever drove. But besides you can't use ZL1 speed on the street and autos are boring except on a DD.

Trade it for a ZL1.

I’ve never owned a boosted car , but my 02 z28 is cammed with Boltons. I wonder if the OP has considered going heads and cam vs boost. I’ve seen good h/c numbers from lt1s and no added nose weight of a super charger.
