True, could be the next ZR1 will be revealed at Detroit or the Z28.

Well, yeah but those were what if cars. They weren't actually intended for production.

Weren't they? Maybe not as a whole...

A lot of times, from the manufacturer stand point, they use large-scale, high-exposure events like SEMA to release cars and design packages that test the waters...they can get a gauge as to whether or not a certain design is something that people would be interested in...and then take that feedback and integrate it into their future development.

If you recall...the LS7 concept car also sported the matte black hood (which became a 1LE staple), the rear taillight panel blackout (which became a pretty popular DIY), and what were to become the 45th anniversary wheels....

True, but I believe the ZL1 was intended to become the Z/28 at that point.

So, while certain characteristics ended up in production, I don't see them launching a production car at SEMA.

I'm with you. The 5th gen Z/28 needs a proper successor.

Just now looking at the pics, the front tires are too big for the fender. GM would not launch a car with a fender not clearing the tire envelope and this looks like it is WAYYYY too big for the fender. Which would lead me to believe that there may be an alternate front fender, CF perhaps as the tooling is actually cheaper than stamping. Just a big PC hit.

Also as pointed out, if there is a major wing/rear spoiler, that could hit FE so it could be optional for track use only for the Government. But everyone would simply put it on and leave it on. LOL

CC brakes could also be optional, i.e Z07 package......

But the engine remains the biggest question.
