Once again - another huge price tag attached to what is supposed to be a budget muscle car. There is absolutely no reason for any Camaro to ever have a $120k price tag.
I also think this is a play on a name that needs to be left in 1969. There can never, will never and should never be any attempt to replicate the original 1969 ZL1 cars. GM did a terrible job trying to replicate them back in 2002 (no offense GM as it was a great car) and now SLP is taking thier swing at tarnishing the holy grail of all muscle cars once again. |

When you get a chance, be sure to check out our ZL1 on the cover of this weeks AutoWeek Magazine with the full test results posted on the AutoWeek iPad app (0-60 3.3, etc...).
If you're out at the SEMA show in Vegas, we're at booth #24867 in the Main/Performance Hall and we have a 2011 ZL585 on display along with a fully prepped SLP Performance Parts 2011 Camaro loaded with all of our Aftermarket goodies. -Dave Hamburger |

Well I think SLP actually did it right, and if GM gave them the blessing they did it right x2.
It's a fully built 427 block. That alone makes this - to me, a true heir to the ZL1 name. My only qualm is that it's allowed on 2SS cars. I think it should stay a bit truer and require a 1SS base to be built upon. Just like the COPO was. My question for bumping this older thread is this: Has anyone on Camaro5 put an order in for one yet? And if so do you guys think it should be the mascot car for the site? :P We already have the American Pride Camaro. But that's for the whole brand. What if C5.com had one as one of the larger sites on the net? |

GM didn't make the 2002 ZL1. GMMG made those with the blessing of GM.

Actually, any RPO option(s) could be ordered on either '69 COPO (9560, 9561)that did not conflict the mandatory COPO Pkgs (No A/C for instance). At least one ZL1 was built with Custom Trim/Custom Interior/Vinyl Roof/Power Windows/RS/Console etc. And several L72-engined COPOs were built as RS models. Not all of them were bare-bones "racers"...

There was at least ONE national program that was cancelled due to the economic climate that would have had LS9-engined 1SSs priced from $79,900 COMPLETE. Who knows, if things turn around, it may yet appear...
