Welp, Im an idiot. Classic fender bender was a result me being a little too close and the person in front me me stopping suddenly. First ever wreck and its in this car : ( but I guess we all have our moments and everyone is ok. I am pretty sure my front bumper will need replaced, any suggestions? Im not sure how this all works as far as of I wanted to get a ZL1 bumper and what not . .

You're going to have to go through your insurance and deal with them, they may give you the money for the repair and allow you to do it how you want, or they may make you do it a certain way.

Either way they should let you pay the difference for a ZL1 bumper if needed.

Any pics of the damage?

As stated above the insurance will pay to replace to OEM but you will have to pay the difference for the ZL1 bumper.

Oh and...

Even if they don't write you a check and they pay the repair shop directly, your still able to pay the difference.

As far as pictures go you can upload them to photobucket them your able to post them here by clicking the insert image button when your typing a reply.

Stuff happens. Live and learn. Get a ZL1 nose out of the deal!

What chaffs me is the people who crack up their cars and come on here making excuses like it wasn't their fault. They will never learn.

Sorry for your luck. Definately try and see if you can get the ZL1 bumper installed. Good luck.

This is exactly what I did. T-Boned someone who ran a red. Was very concerned, but the repair turned out great. Looks and drives like new. Plus, I was able to get a ZL1 front bumper out of it, with the bumper modded to match my SS hood lines, and the heritage grill I wanted. How much extra you ask?? Zero dollars out of my pocket. The accident part sucked, of course, but in the end, I couldn't complain.

Just gotta find the right shop who will work with you. Doesn't have to cost you anything extra. The hood is the expensive part, but if you keep your SS hood, the bumper cost difference isn't huge and the shop may work with you, depending on the amount of work and ultimately profit they stand to make on the job. Just remember though that there are two things that need to be done to the ZL1 bumper, prior to attaching it. Do some research, but the short version is that a reinforcement piece behind the bumper needs to be cut to fit the bumper, and the cowl lines of the bumper won't align with the SS hood, so you have to have them shaved in a little closer. Neither are challenging and within the capability of any shop, but you don't want to forget. Good luck!
