I had just finished installing DT Shorties, JBA high Flow cats and DT catback system and at first car was fine then about 2 hours later i re-started the car and check engine light and the service stabillitrak error was on....I called OnStar and the engine had a misfire. found this forum and turns out the Stabilitrak error was due to 2 craked spark plugs that I found and my headers and hi-flow cats were extremely hot, the high flow cats were even glowing red. but the check engine light still remains. might just have to go with a tune to clear the error....This is what the spark plugs looked like. ::::UPDATE::::After driving a bit the next day with the new spark plugs the check engine light went away::::

There is a Stabilitrak reset routine in the manual:
Stop Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition Open and close the driver door an wait at least one minute After a minute has passed, start the engine again. |

Mine did this starting this morning. Went right away and did not repeat on a restart. I'm thinking computer glitch. Data busses can cause funny things like this because of they way they have to be set up.

Lights came on for me today as well. It was running rough so when I got home, I plugged in the code checker and saw "Cylinder 7 misfire". Checked the plug wires and sure enough, a cable came loose. With less than 20k miles on a 2010 SS and it being garaged, seems a little early for such a failure. Ordered some new wires so hopefully I'll be good again for a while.

This just happened to me this afternoon. Car ran fine this morning, drove 30 miles, parked it for 8 hours, upon startup, all 3 lights come on and "service stabilitrac" comes on. Idled rough, too. WTF? Had me nervous the whole way home. Decided to check this thread for ideas, pop the hood cause I was gonna do an oil change anyway, and discover the passenger side front plug wire is totally disconnected from the top side, and also the opposite side was really loose. I had done the header job 9 months ago, did these somehow work themselves loose? Anyway, plugged em back in and checked the rest, and the problem was gone.

Had this with Service Active Handling on my 08 Corvette. First time was due to the battery going out. Second time, a year later, had it happen again, as well as went into limp mode. Dealership and Tuner Shop that did a lot of work on it couldn't figure it out. I found the ground wire for the ECU was not making great contact to the frame. Just a couple other possibilities.

service stabilitrak
Bought a new car (Camaro) so i had a reliable car, had the service stabilitrak issue today, eng was like it was running on 4 cylinders, lucky to get it home. I switched to a reliable car 2001 NIssan pathfinder 130,000 miles.
4 hours later I went out to the car played the game followed a number of suggestions, car has same issue, eng runs like it wants to jump out from under the hood. I guess its off to the dealer. Can I ever trust this car on a trip with the family? Update, Car taken in june 21, just got a call now the 25th, they claim a valve spring collapsed. should have the car back today. Should I be concerned with the piston being damaged and/or the valve.? They said they did a compression test and everything is fine. Last edited by M48A3; 06-25-2014 at 11:22 AM. |

I had this happen to me tonight, I usually just click the key and let it go to start the car. Tonight after the car was warm and I went to start it and it almost felt like it had a weak battery with a slow crank.
Service stabilitrak, all traction control lights came on and it was running shakey so I pulled over and shut her down. Logged on to the forum and sure enough taking the key out waiting and restarting as described above did the trick. Fwiw I have seen the svc stabilitrak light from time to time on startup, but it was nothing like what happened tonight. Hopefully this isn't a harbinger for a larger problem |

I had this message appear briefly and it freaked me out. I was driving in ~90 degree weather, pulled over to the shoulder of the road to look for some directions, and then started my engine again less than 10 minutes later without removing the key while the engine was still hot. The message flashed by for about 2 seconds and cleared itself. It never reappeared since. Also, when I was pulling to the side, my passenger side front wheel dipped a bit into a hidden pothole which was filled water, so the suspension got jarred briefly just before I parked.
So it's either because of suspension shock or it could be the fact that the engine was hot. Both of those were mentioned in this thread as potential causes. I'm not worrying about it for now. I tested my stability control in the rain and it's still working. Last edited by RenegadeXR; 10-12-2014 at 12:54 PM. |

Hello, I have a 13 ZL1 Auto with some mods and we just put on slicks and skinnies. We took the car for the ride and within a few minutes, the car threw a code saying "service stabilitrak. Does anyone know why this happened/if it effects anything for drag racing. Thanks

I've seen this twice in my 2011 SS, once this morning. It flashed the message on the message center and the 3 trouble lights came on dealing with traction, then within a few minutes it disappeared. No persistent codes.

Mine is 'similar', but comes on at speed, too
My '10 SS light occasionally blinks on, briefly at startup, then goes away, like everyone else is saying.
HOWEVER, my light will occasionally come on and stay on until I shut the engine off for a few minutes- almost every single time it's a particular interchange(that is posted 65mph), when i'm doing 65-70mph. it's a long left hand interchange( about 1/3 of a mile). The other time is see it come on is sometimes when i'm coming down from the mountains, on curvy roads, and have been pushing the limits for a while. Air temp doesn't seem to affect it. Tire pressure is great. I get my tires rotated every 5k like clockwork, and no hint of alignment being off. Car is stock except I changed the tires from the 21" p-zero's to 20" tires(about 50k miles ago). If anyone has ideas- i'd like to hear them! |
