I don't know how much is left in this particular 2.0L, but it would be cool if GM offered an upgrade kit like they did with the Kappa platform cars, those were 2.0L turbo, 260hp/260lb-ft but with the dealer installed kit, 290hp/340lb-ft (in the manual). That extra TQ would be really welcome on track.

I agree, in that market segment, the Camaro (turbo) needs to be a little more competitive vs. the "incumbent" performance marques.

I had that installed on my Sky RedLine. Huge difference. Back in the day I could hang with a Gen5 SS off the line.

GM had actually tried a "big turbo" upgrade for that 2.0L and it didn't meet durability requirements (so I heard) at 300 HP. That's why I laugh at the folks on the site that were pushing 400 HP with that little 2.0 with no upgrades to the internals. No clue what this variant would be good for.

That upgrade was like $500 (if I recall) if you had the dealer install it an reprogram the PCM. I think it was basically new injectors and a calibration. Likely that would just have people buying the turbo and upgrading rather than buying the V6.

Totally agree GM should be offering that on not just the 2.0 but the 6.2 as well. Ford does it and I know BMW does it.

However, the Camaro's chassis and suspension is nearly impossible to beat at that price point.
Doesn’t the McLaren 720s have Pirellis?

this is awesome well done GM.

Whats more eye opening and a little sad is the lack of performance cars in the LL1 category! Cars are just more expensive now.

Agree with two others, have the GMPP upgrade kit on my 2007 GXP Solstice with LNF, if I remember that got you 290 HP and over 300 tq. Basically sw and new 3 bar sensor.

GM could do a mild boost kit with ECM change and would make a huge difference in top end, think I paid $600 installed on GXP at dealer. Car ran 13.2 1/4 mile crappy florida humid air.

Crazy how fast the ZR1 is. 6 seconds a lap faster than the Ford GT? What's the catch there?

The 720S and the 911 GT2 RS have the same catch. The 720S has an advanced aero design like the Ford GT, while the ZR1 and GT2 RS are heavily factory modified "run of the mill" aero designs. All three have more power than the Ford GT.

Give the 1LE LT's the same transmission and rear end as the SS. I think that's one of the main gripes about the package. (although I don't know how well it would pair with the turbo 4 and V6) But I understand they want to keep the price point down. Still impressive regardless.

Very impressive.

Good stuff either way. Great to have 3 engine and price point choices. The value in the Camaro is really good IMO.
You gotta realize, a difference in a few seconds takes exponential more investment (suspension, and power) to overcome... so although the numbers are close, the amount of work and engineering required to produce those numbers are not as close.

I just think acting like the 2.0 is only 1500 dollars cheaper isn't the whole story. I got my (non 1Le) for $20,000 which is like $9k less than a v6 model. The 4 bangers are almost always heavily discounted.

All Pirellis are not created equal. Even the ones on the TT RS were a lot better than the Pirellis on the RS3.

The V6 has just as many discounts. My RS V6 was discounted to $21,875 when I got it. The blue RS turbo I shopping against at the same dealer was discounted $860 cheaper at the time. Unfortunately for me at the time, the cheapest 1ss/auto with discounts was $12k more

Yeah, if I could have gotten a V6 for $21.8K I would have defiantly considered it.
