Okay, I get your point. Let me be more clear.

YOU would be faster because the car is faster, not because your skill increased from the lap you ran in the manual car.

This same logic works, and may be more clear in a more extreme example.

If I ran a lap in a GT350, and then a lap in a ZL1, my second lap would be faster but not because I got any better.

The conversation was running at the track with the goal of improving your times. Running in a car with a different transmission that results in faster times is not improving your lap times in the context of the statement I relied to.

But yes, if you want to be all Einstein about it, you would be traveling in that faster car an thus YOU would be traveling faster as well.

So I have not read all of this thread but if a car makes me faster bc the car is faster and not me but I’m still tracking faster, that’s a thumbs way up in my book! Now if I improve on my driving over time and cut a second at a time then another thumbs up. Here’s to going fast!
