Proper burnout procedure

I have seen a few posts where the A8 seems to have been damaged and even exploded during a burn out. I'm looking to see what people are doing to get their tires warmed up. I have the SJM line lock so I'm just looking for how you are using the transmission. Manual mode second gear hold around 3-4k rpm? Or just leave it in auto and mash it? Looking forward to your comments.

At the strip, I push it over into manual mode. Powerbrake it to break the tires loose and rev it between 4-5k. Hold it for at least 10 secs, let off the brake..keep on the gas a little and then let off. Since I don't launch from a high RPM, the tires are sticky enough for me to leave at an idle. I think some guys get it into 2nd gear and get the tires spinning up to 50MPH.

The one that exploded during a burn out in the water box was well over the rated HP limit rated for that transmission.

start in the gear you want to do the burnout in via manual mode and don't let it shift.

Is it better to be on 1st or 2nd gear in order to do a proper burnout? Also all nanies (TC, SC) should be off, right?

Most people do the burnout in second.

I do my burnouts in 2nd gear now too. And with the M/T ET street SS, you only need about a 4 sec burnout.
