Won't shut down!
I pulled into the garage with my '19 SS auto10 put it into park, set the parking brake, and with foot on the brake when I pushed the ignition it did not stop running. ???
It would not come out of park, operate the parking brake, but the windows and locks worked, and just stayed at idle. After 20 minutes I was out of the car with the key fob and decided to get my call list out of glove box and used the fob to unlock the passenger door, got my list, slammed the door shut, and the engine shut down! The car is now back to normal operation. Any guess what happened or what I should do to avoid a repeat? |

Next time just try putting in park and turning the ignition off without activating the park brake and have your foot on the brake while shutting it off, see if that makes a difference. It being an a10 you may have confused it.

Was it trying to download and install some software update perhaps?

I am guessing this was a sensor failure. I ordered a Brake Pedal Position Sensor hoping this won't need a door slam to free.

I may have somehow confused the control circuit but the another possibility is an intermittent malfunction of the brake position sensor.
Rather than wait for a failure at a inconvenient location I replaced the brake position sensor just in case. This is a difficult repair because you are upside down in a very tight spot. What I thought would be a repair in minutes took me over an hour. A tip... remove the harness first and reinstall it last. All is well for now. |

If the key is not detected all cars do that. Might have been a couple of seconds.
I have a faraday pouch and that has happened to me, but after 2 or 3 tries it shuts down if the key is detected. Try replacing the key battery. |

With it being an automatic why are you leaving your foot on the brake?
That is only required to start it…maybe that confused something? It still shouldn’t have done it but try no ebrake or brake pedal next time and see what does.
