Bogging down

I was cruising at like 60mph in 5th gear and I slammed the throttle wide open and the car just bogged down kinda shook and I had absolutely no acceleration at all. At that moment I smelled a faint sulfur smell. This is the second time this has happened in less than one month of me owning this car. The first time it happened when I pulled into my subdivision going about 20mph in second gear, punched it and had nothing. This time I smelled what I thought was burning rubber. This is not a constant problem. I pulled into my driveway, turned the car off, I went out 20 minutes later and took it out for a test drive and it was fine. I do have a code on my PCM P0451. I know this code has to do with the EVAP system, any correlation? Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be before I can get it to the dealer for them to look at and tell me that they can’t replicate the problem. Has anyone ever ran into this problem?

I doubt it is a coincidence. The CEL should give the dealer a good clue. Could be a variety of things, sounds like somehow your car went into an over rich (fuel) condition. Keep us posted.

Is your foot totally off the clutch pedal?

If not clutch protection is kicking in.

Could be a vacuum leak too
