Quad Pipes vs. Dual Pipes

I've noticed that some new Camaro SS cars have 4 exhaust pipes exiting at the rear and some have only 2. Any idea why this is?

The quad pipes are for those with the NPP exhaust option. This means there's a selectable exhaust mode.

The dual pipes is just the stock system.

Some even have the triple exhaust system (6 tips). I saw a 2016 in my area with this

Do you have a pic? This does not sound possible, and look anywhere near good.

I dumped my stock suitcase muffler and cut pipes at the crimped pipes, then added a y pipe. Then finished it off with quad pipes, inside pipe is tour mod with 401 outlaw mufflers and outside pipe is a straight pipe for track mod and I kept my valves to change mod.
