Looking for opinions on the CF Hood Insert

I have my 18 ZL1 that came with the back hood insert. I liked it but always wanted to see how the Exposed CF looked on my particular color of car. Mine is NFGM. I bought one and installed it and cant decide if I like it on the color of my car or not.

I like it. I think however if you did the side views mirrors also it would tie it all in better.

What’s there not to like about the look JD? I think it looks damn good! You bought one and installed it so leave it on the car! I really like the look of mine on my used SIM ZL1! That’s one of the reasons I bought it because of the exposed weave insert. IMO leave it on your ZL1!

But if you decide you don’t like it then you can advertise it on the forum and I’m sure it would sell in a short time. Some owners that have the black one are now wanting to switch to the CF one!

I have the CF hood with NFGM and I think it looks great.

Thanks everyone. I just wasn't sure. Its doesn't pop on the color like some others. Ive had it on there a short time. Typically I can make decisions on my own but just wanted some help on this one. I appreciate the input.

It is odd that the one I took off was actually carbon fiber but painted. I wonder what their thinking is on charging more for exposed.

Yeah that was something I was thinking of. Ill have to look into that.

The painted mosaic black ties in well with the test of the trim. It pops brilliantly in sunlight. CF all alone doesn't have anything else on the car (save ZLE wing) to balance it.

I don’t know if I would do the mirrors though in CF! It might have a ricer look like that!

If you know anything about Carbon fiber, it can be difficult to lay down a perfect pattern. Maybe 1 out of three is produced without flaws (just a guess). Those with flaws get painted. On top of that GM uses a special clear coat on the exposed inserts and voila the $600 option charge.
