Hitting Rev Limiter way too soon
Hey — been noticing a problem when driving my M6 ZL1 in a “spirited fashion”. If I’m at full throttle the rev limiter kicks in well before redline (40 mph in first gear for example), but when slowly revving up I can take the motor all the way to redline (60 mph in first). My car has a Roto-Fab and Tony Mamo ported throttle body and is otherwise stock. No tune.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? Many thanks for your help. |

There was recently another thread about this - long story short, your left foot may be resting on the clutch, triggering the no-lift shift rev limiter.
Apparently, the clutch switch is very sensitive in these cars. |

I found that thread and tried that (removed my foot from the clutch completely). I still bang into the rev limiter. I appreciate the quick response.

Full throttle in first usually will spin the tires and hit the rev limiter quite easily. You sure that is not the case? You will not be doing 60mph, but your tires might be...

I’m pretty sure I’ve had this happen to me before as well. I tried to get it to do it again the other day, but it didn’t happen. I’m going to play around with it some more & see if it happens again. It happened in either 2nd or 3rd gear for me and it was not a cause from lost traction.

was the car fully warmed up? I've had this happen on my 1LE when I didn't pay attention and was trying to accelerate hard before the car was fully warmed up.
