HELP PLEASE! Z-28 engine parts and builders

Please provide some engine builder references for the Z-28. I have an issue needing attention and would like to discuss with an experienced shop or rebuilder.

I would also like to know of the best reliable discount source for Z-28 engine parts and assemblies.

Thanks all for you help!

American Heritage in California..
Kohle started his career in Cosworth's F1 program, so he'll build the heads..if you want, with stud mounted roller rockers, they'll be good for 100,000 miles w/o anther issue. He'll use F1 technology in the valve guide technology he'll use. Their Stage 3/4 package is good for 630 to 650 RWHP; but our 3.90:1 rear ends will make it feel like a 100 hp more.

American Heritageand Katech, two of the Premier builders of LS7's.

What are you trying to remedy or accomplish?

Sad to report that I had a COMP lifter fail. Might also have a scored cylinder liner. Not sure why. Looks light a need a new short block.

Thanks for your suggestions. Very helpful.

Sorry to hear,

American Heritage Short Block

link: https://www.americanheritageperforma...s7-short-block

I would go with someone close to you. No one knows more than Katech - may be more costly - but given it is a track car for you, seems they are the best solution, albeit not the most cost effective.

Good luck with the fix

My best wishes to you. Sorry to hear.

Having it shipped to Katech to diagnose and have them repair it with a 3 yr/36mi warranty is money well spent in my mind. Tough to beat the confidence and security that goes along with their reputation and experience. Name holds value as well.

Once the engine is in a crate the distance does not become much of an issue, but it might not even be worth shipping anywhere if the cylinders are badly scored.

I am talking to American Heritage and am waiting to see what they can suggest.

Racer56...I had a similar situation/ experience. I am in NJ and had Jerry of Jerry’s Speed Shop do most of the work. As for the heads and block... since I was in the exact or similar situation you are in, Lingenfelter built the short block and conditioned the heads to support PC route if I was interested in the future. Jerry’s did a phenomenal job and in addition, of all of the performance shops that I have ever worked with in the past, this shop and his faculty were the most honest and trustworthy I have experienced thus so far. I hope this is of help.

After my Z06 dropped a valve and cracked the block with only 5,700 miles on it I went with an AHP fully forged motor. Couldn’t be happier with it. Car is very fast made 553/500 whp and drives just like stock. Very very slight lope to it at idle. I have their 116 cam.

Racer56,

We’d love to try and help you out over here at Katech. We can achieve whatever power goals you are trying to accomplish with the new motor build. LS7 parts can be quite expensive, it is hard to find any sort of “deal” pricing that you are seeking though.

Best Regards,
Zach

Thanks Katech,

Only "deal" I was looking for was in a replacement motor in order to resell.

I am now considering a "proper" motor in order to keep the car and continue running it on the track. Just looking for the best, fairly priced option to get it back on the track and be RELIABLE.

My plan was to contact you.

I like the 3-year warranty. Will not drive it 36,000 miles though.

I will call them. Thanks.

New Era in Rochester NY could handle your car and tune it as well. They do magic on LSx stuff.
