I'm looking to get a new Colorado, but not a 4x4 or ZR as I have often found I need to haul stull, which means I have to borrow one of my kin's trucks....seeing as how my car is all paid off, and its my DD, the new truck will do double duty as it will become me DD.

Build Quality GM vs Dodge for most cars and trucks is about the same both will have pluses and minuses. I have 3 FCA vehicles and one has had some things go that I didn't expect (under warranty) but the other 2 I have had no issues at all

I know they've had updates since, but I'll just say I very much like my 2015 Colorado crew cab V6. No real issues, rides decent, power decent, gas mileage a bit better than I'd get in a full size (for my commute, I am able to average 22 - 23 mpg except in winter months).

My only "gripes" are the narrow seats with high seat base bolsters that tend to dig into my thigh, and the lack of a dead pedal, which leaves my left foot with no place to go. I have considered pulling the cover off the seat and cutting down some foam, but I haven't yet. A dead pedal would solve it all.

It's a damn shame the issues GM has had with the 8 speeds, as if it weren't for that with the 2017+ mid size trucks, I'd say they are damn reliable. I'm happy with the 6 speed in mine. The 2015 and 2016 suffered from what is known as the "chuggle" which was caused by a very FE oriented trans tune. The most recent GM transmission tune for the 15 and 16 models fixes that issue, albeit possibly reducing gas mileage by just a smidge. The 6 speed itself is reliable.

The 2018 or 2019 Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra would be a much better truck to own and much more reliable as well. Also check out the 2019 Nissan Titan it is a excellent truck to own too.

I made a recent purchase of a 2018 GMC Canyon Denali 4x4. This is my third GM mid-size truck and it just works for me for several reasons. It fits in my garage and it is more maneuverable and easier to park than a full size. I hope to have this truck for a long time.

Recent Motortrend article chose the Colorado over the new Ranger, Tacoma, and Ridgeline as the best all around truck and performer. I can't say I disagree.

Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring with the new Turbo-4 would be my choice. They handle surprisingly well and with the new motor they have some balls.

Chevy Blazer looks cool but we don't know enough about them yet. Colorado ZR2 would be my pick if you need a pickup.

Glad you picked the Diesel Colorado!

Will return the best fuel economy in its class while being fully capable on and off-road. Enjoy
