Anyone here come from a H/C/I/E C6 ZO6 ?

Thinking of trading my 09 ZO6 with 590hp/560tq for an 18 ZL1 w/ A10. Going to lose my a&$ I know but getting the itch and I have never liked the C7’s. For you guys that have, Am I going to get bored quick? My ZO6 is a handful but,I don’t race that much anymore, maybe the occasional auto-x and a drag once in a while. Always have been intrigued by the 6th gen ZL1. Let me know what you think.

I don't think you will lose your ass, most people that buy Z06 are looking for one with the heads done. with that being said I sold my 1000hp C6 and bought a ZL1, never looked back.

I had a 2015 Gen V Viper before I bought my 2019 A10 ZL1, probably the closest stock car to your Z06 in terms of overall driving. The Viper was a handful on the street but became easier to drive on the track. The ZL1 in regular trim with the A10 is very easy to drive, very comfortable and a great daily driver. I admit, I do miss shifting gears, but overall it's a fantastic car! If you start to miss the power of your Z06 you can easily add 100hp. I've had C5's and C6's and this platform is so much better, more refined.

I obviously have that mod tendency. Was thinking the same thing, after warranty (or before) there has to be an easy 100 hp to get out of it if I’m not happy with it stock.....

I had a heads/cam C6Z made 611/519 and did 169 in the half mile. Currently have ZL1 making 608 and did 157 in the half. Other than being slower and heavier the ZL1 is better in every other way. Zero regrets.

Interior is the biggest upgrade. I got tired of the plastic bath tub that is a C6 even the updated later ones weren't that nice given how much they cost new. Also never thought I'd have an auto in a performance car since I was a manual snob but I found the A10 is more fun and better overall. Especially when performance shift mode kicks in.

If all you care about is going fast then keep C6Z if you want something more well rounded get a ZL1.

Stock, out of the box, it's hard to beat a ZL1 A10 for the money. Even in stock form, for me I can't imagine needing more power, hard to use all it has now on the street.

I have a 427 and a ZL1, though my 427 is not H/C...Both are great cars. There's a lot to be said for the scalpel feeling of the 3000-3100 pound C6Z, with a good set of Bilsteins in the back it's an incredible handling car. In a straight line, your H/C Z06 will murder a stock ZL1 obviously. That said, the ZL1 is also an incredible handling car in the twisties...The biggest difference I notice is very hard to explain but I'll give it a shot...With the C7/C6, you feel like you are the car, the bubble like windshield and low hood makes it feel like you're right on the road and very engaged. The ZL1, with it's smaller windows, bigger interior, bulging hood, etc. is a little less engaging, it's very calm when driven properly (without being boring) and you don't feel like your seat is bolted to the asphalt. Very different feeling cars. Personally, I'd say upgrade to the ZL1 all said and done.

I came from H/C/I C6Z with a BBK, coilovers etc. It was a streetable road course set up and not my daily. With the ZL1, stock, it's my daily. It's like driving a luxury car compared to the CZ6, very cozy. It's got more low end torque, and even though technically slower it doesn't feel much slower. It also put the same times at Sebring when the vette was on comparable street tires. I found the Z magically putting down the power better than the ZO6, better suspension tech makes a big difference. Also I was always chasing the next weak point on the vette and was tired of the shop time. Owner enjoyment is much higher in the ZL1.

Went and checked out the ZL1. Absolutely loved the car! Loved the transmission, interior, exterior, engine, everything about the car! I was even shocked how much they offered me on trade for my car.....But, I walked away. Not saying I won’t go back, I think about it every day. Bottom line, my ZO6 is such a different car than the ZL1, I still get the biggest grin doing a 2nd and 3rd gear pull, I have so much time, sweat and money in this ZO6 to make it just what I wanted I’m having a hard time getting rid of it. Wife says I won’t be happy and should get another Vette, The C7 has not grown on me at all, hated it at first and still do. Wish I could have both but, that’s not going to happen. I would drive the ZL1 so much more than the ZO6....still rolling it around.

I had a 09 C6Z with headers corsa and a halltech and a tune that made 501 rwhp and loved it! Sold that and bought my 16 C7Z which was slower stock so I did heads, cam, headers, meth, and pulleys with a tune and don't miss my z one bit. I also dd a 18 Zl1 manual that is stock (not into auto's on fast cars) and I personally prefer my C7Z all day to my Zl1 and C6Z. this is just my .02 drive it and drive the c7z then see how you feel. Worse case you keep your baby, Its damn hard to beat a proper set up C6z.
