Since I was about 8 years old I always dreamt of owning a 1970 SS Chevelle with the M22 and 454 LS6. Every single day of my life at some point I dreamt of that car. Literally. I’m 44 years old now.
I was looking at cars last summer. Taking my kids and nephews to go see the latest greatest Corvettes, Camaro’s, Hellcats, Mustangs, Shelby’s and exotics. Somehow I guess I forgot that Chev had released the 1LE version of the ZL1. I watched 3 reviews. Then I couldn’t stop thinking about the car. Christmas was approaching and GM was having their usual Christmas deals. I open my door one day and the newspaper is lying there with the big ad about the sales GM is having. I guess my dad could tell I was about to pull the trigger. I thought to myself, funny, he thinks I’m buying a truck. I got looking at the article and sure as shit in the fine print it mentioned the ZL1s weren’t included in these deals. ZL1 in the fine print was underlined by him. Now I know my dad and he didn’t underline that for money reasons. He was letting me know he knew what I was looking for. Cause he knows he’ll be driving it at times. Anyhow, up in Canada these ZL1 1LE models are hard to come by but I placed my order and I drove it off the lot on April 24. I’m VERY fortunate to say I was able to buy my dream car and also the way I dreamt of doing it by walking into the dealer and ordering it on paper per se. The dealer had to make sure they could get allocation for one. Unfortunately the 1970 SS still gets dreamed about but it fell to second spot. I hope my ZLE lives up to the hype. I could have bought a new Z06 and looked at them long and hard but in the end I like the ZLE better. Nobody really knows what it is other than some Camaro but when they look at it, their first impressions are priceless. Sorry for the long story. |

My dream car is not an expensive car. But it is kind of a unicorn. I've even had one a few years back. They are very hard to come by in good condition, most of them are rusted up.
A Peugeot 205 GTI 1,9. Must be one of the best front-wheel drive cars ever made. It is a pininfarina design. It is very light, at around 875 kgs. It doesn't have ABS (later models did have ABS), ESP or power steering. 5 speed manual gearbox. 1,9 liter naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine, with 130hp. Handles like a go-kart. This is a drivers car. |

I've enjoyed reading all of your posts so I'm in. As a 16 year old gearhead in 1980 who purchased a new 1980 Camaro Z28 (Air Induction 350) with earned money saved from 12 years old, I've got to vote for the Hennessey Exorcist ZL1. I've carried the Camaro flag for decades as an owner of one good performance from each Camaro generation. I've have owned/own exotics (supercharged SL55 AMG's) and driven multiple 911's/variants, some even professionally tweaked. I consider the costs vs. performance value prop and I'm here to testify (can I get an Amen?) these ZL1's are great stock, but that Henessey touch with a warranty is just unbelievable. Cars that cost twice the $$ cannot run with these beasts, street or track - period. I have considered selling all cars and buying a killer exotic, but the Ferrari I rode in last weekend left me underwhelmed for $300K. Take this with a grain of salt from an enthusiast; I've fairly evaluated dozens of performance cars and love the refined 911's, Ferraris, R8's and AMG's, however the Exorcist is next on my list!
