They put it on the website because they knew you were not going to buy it.

no bro, it happened when it was on its way to the dealer, way before i walked away and way before it was delivered to the dealer, technically 1 minute it was on the dealer website and the next minute it was gone, but listing was on the AutoNation network

I know several people who have ordered Camaros recently. They have all shown up on the dealer's website, as "In-Transit". None were sold out from underneath the person who ordered the car.

My dealer said that they have a person that removes pre-sold vehicles from their website every morning. Apparently GM adds them and the dealer removes them so people don’t call to inquire about them.

This makes sense. Most of the photos are straight from the build and price section of the website. I always figured it was an automated process.

In Transit, typically that means the factory released it to the shipping company. It may still be sitting at the plant or marshaling yard waiting on logistics to take over. It does not mean its actually moving but with all the shipping delays and parts shortages, who knows. It will get there when it gets there.

Exactly, this was already the case in 2018 when I ordered my car. When I inquired at the dealer, they said I should rest assured, the car was mine no matter what the website says, in-transit inventory is populated by an automated publishing process they had no control over.

And managed by a 3rd party vendor, not GM. The dealer has various website packages and options from which they can choose.

The same happened when I bought my Stang in 2018. I think the website automatically grabs it from the system. Then it gets adjusted. I won’t fret on it.

Slowdowns in sales, and an uptick in supply chain seem to have things moving along.

It took two years to get to this point, it's most likely going to take another two to get back to "normal" i.e. cars available on the lot.

Yep the inventory manager called me Friday afternoon and looked it up in vinview and said its still sitting in Lansing, but he did get invoiced for it. He said more than likely its a rail delay since my car is coming by train.
