CarPlay by Grom (VLine2) - Anyone? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Does anyone have the VLine2 unit installed on their MyLink stereo? They say that all functionality of the steering wheel buttons and camera are retained. The MVI system doesn’t retain all of the steering wheel functions, which led me to the VLine2 unit.

If anyone has had any experience or has this installed, please share your thoughts.

I mean android 8.1? Thats very old. Almost the minimum for stable app support nowadays. Im praying something similar with newer OS and full oem integration would come out.

I am new to the Camaro but I went with Coastal Flash to get a new HMI, radio module and usb plug programmed for Carplay on my 2015 Silverado. I will probably do the same with the Camaro. I like to keep everything as factory looking as possible. WAMS is also good to work with.

My only question would be if they need to do any gauge cluster programming with the Camaro. I never did it with my Silverado. It wasn't that big of a deal for me.

I plan to. I am in a group buyin for July. I put one in my parents equinox and it works amazingly. Just use a 4ft usb nothing longer or it can act up a bit.

They are doing an android 12 upgrade this year which is going to really help longevity. Cant wait to finally have a new feature for audio and navigation.

I ordered mine. Heres hoping for a usb to optical output to my amplifier DSP combo and getting the best signal i can.

I have one in the equinox and soon the camaro. Wired carplay is perfect. Wireless there is obviously some delay. That was with the VLITE model. I am doing the full VLINE model for my camaro. Ill report once its installed

Appreciate the feedback. This is my wife's daily, she hates wires, so she asked me what she needed to order so I had her get the iDatalink dash kit, the Maestro and a wireless carplay receiver. Got the harness ready to go, hoping to get it installed tonight. The bonus of having TPMS and actual gauge data display on the screen is nice too.

Got it mostly done. New GPS for wireless Carplay run, new mic run, everything tested and working. Going to pull it back out and adust the mounting brackets a tiny bit so the screen is flush with the new bezel and tilted just a bit. Factory Boston system sounds SO MUCH better with just the receive upgrade. Really like the look of the dash piece too. TPMS data with a button touch? Gauges? Like it.

Just did the install and im very happy. Just need to run the MIC tomorrow, mount the interface box and im done.

So what exactly does this allow you to do? It mirrors your phone onto the Mylink radio? Can you guys post a link to what is needed? How does it wire up? Thank you

It allows you to use android auto and apple carplay with the stock mylink. Swiping is the only thing out touch screens dont support but everything works nicely. It wires in using T- harnesses. no cutting or splicing. Just run a 2nd mic into the windshield and go. I ran their GPS antenna as well. that way it has more accuracy.

You can do 2 different options. VLITE wich is just for AA and AC or the full VLINE2 for more features (most wont need this one).

When you say swiping doesn't work, do you mean the touch screen doesn't work at all?

Touch works perfectly. if you have more than one page of apps in Android auto, theres no gesture to swipe. just use the right knob and its fine.
