Monster Clutch - Install issues

I’m installing my S3-9520-GEN5 Monster Clutch Triple Disc, but my measurements for the Slave (B) and the clutch to block (A) is off.

The slave measurement is smaller, which it shouldn’t be. I used the included shim that came with the kit, should I not use that?

I tried calling them but they are closed on the weekends.

Thanks!

There is an aluminum spacer that you should use but then measure to determine if you need an additional shim.

Are you saying there is not enough room between the CSC and the pressure plate fingers? If that is the case, you could remove the shim.

You want at least 1/8 inch between the compressed CSC and the pressure plate fingers.

You also want at least 5/8 inch of stroke left on the CSC when the CSC is riding on the pressure plate fingers.

When I did mine i took a lot of time makng sure my measurement method was repeatable. I used a digital caliper depth gauge and a straight edge. you did not say how far off or the numbers.

I practiced until i could get real close on the same measurement location to get repeatability. Then each measurement I took three times and consistenty logged the middle measurement.

Also, make sure the slave is fully compressed when measuring.

An extra set of hands can be helpful, e.g. to hold the straight edge while you measure, or you can c-clamp it, even duct tape it, just so long as it stays still long enough to get an accurate measurement.

I ended up reinstalling the clutch and still got the same measurements. I then decided to reinstall the slave and shim and it actually seated better and gave me a larger number. I ended up exactly between 1/16 and 1/8 on the final measurement. Thanks for all the help.

I took about 6-7 different measurements on different sides. I used a digital caliper as well.

Hopefully it’s all good. I finally got the transmission back in and let me tell you, that was a PAIN!! I have a Heartbeat Supercharger installed so I had to take off the top of that case which involved taking off the fuel rail and draining the coolant for the supercharger. After that, I had a buddy push the engine down so that I had just enough room to jack the transmission up and get it to slide in. It was not fun at all. Then had to reinstall the supercharger lid and fuel rail and coolant.

Still need to install the new driveshaft and then fill the transmission with new fluid, bleed the brakes, and bleed the clutch.

Thanks again!
