Fellow Californians We are F****D

This morning, interesting information regarding the new ECU testing for smog was brought to me by a friend. So it seems like CVN testing will be used on cars, what this means it will be tough to pass. Unless the tuning software used is able to reset the checksum when your old stock tune is used it will not pass. I have attached some information below that explains more of the stuff as I don't want to steal or take credit of the information. Add comments and so on what you think, whether this is what will be tested or any other ideas.

California is getting worse year by year, I remember when I first began to become more serious about cars in high school you could've bought headers, catless mid pipes, and other mods and had them shipped to your house. Now that is not even possible, then in my city people are being handed state refs left and right.

Where I live it is a great spot to be a car/driving enthusiast; great cars, the Malibu canyons, few racetracks nearby, consistent sunny weather, and so on. I would consider moving to Texas but from two people that I know that moved over is that everything that I have here is not there. So for me this pain in the ass is worth dealing for these opportunities.

This is what happens when you live in the most populated state

Has anyone confirmed this? I asked my tuner who asked not to mention his name but I think he flew the coup.

so if a car has a CARB approved mod and tune with CARB#...but the tune has changed from that canned tune, will they know that, or will the CARB # suffice to pass, or would the CARB approved tune need to be back in the car?

I found out about this online and spoke with a local Chevrolet dealer that specializes in high performance, same here I called my tuner and he's not returning my call. Might be the same dude

I had the IPF tune on my RS. Switched it back to stock tune via online. Initially failed, needed to put on about 150 miles to get the monitors up. Also left the Airaid CAI with CARB sticker on. It passed the visual. All passed up after the drive and retest. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
