Granted I was coming from Carson City back to Sacramento, but I my avg speed was 66.4 MPH using the tap-shift to keep up with the hills.

If your mileage isn't a single-digit number, you're doing it wrong

This car is going to last me a long time, and I prefer not to fill up after 200 miles.

You really need to (hand) calculate your fuel economy round-trip, not one-way.

For example, my LS3 gets 31mpg between my house & my parents, a 4000' elevation drop, but averages 27mpg for the entire trip.

I previously had a 2LT that averaged 28mpg for the same trip.

You bought the v6 for better MPG. I bought the V8 for more power, and could care less about MPG.

pretty simple, get what you want.
