10,000 Mile report
My 1LT RS just hit 10000 miles, I've had it since January (use to have a long commute to work), and here's what I've noticed during the first 10k miles.
The first 2k miles my Camaro did not get very good gas mileage, even in the highways. The power had yet to be established, so I wasn't feeling the full burst off the line, or even at passing speeds. From my first oil change at 7,500 miles, I notice a drastic improvement in gas mileage on the highways, city driving it more or less the same. On my 400 mile trip to my family in SoCal, driving at 60-65, I got close to 29 mpg. I vary at 17-19 mpg on the city. The biggest improvement has been the power, the transmission is not much more fluid and distributing the gear ratios much better. I'm feeling more power better torque. The sport mode has shown improvements as well. Overall the break in period is over, and now, I feel I can start seeing where my Camaro is at. I have no mods whatsoever, so I'm thinking CAI and maybe exhaust work is in order. But I have to say, the first 7500 miles I wasn't impressed that much with it, once I broke it in, it's matching what I expected from a 300+ HP V6. And I'm very happy! |

Oil change at 7,500?!?!?!?!? Am i missing something? Holy...
I got my first OC at 500 miles, now i'm at 750. Next at 1,500 then every 2,500 from there. Also, I'm glad you're able to start enjoying the understated V6 power! Congrats!

Thanks, I put long lasting oil in my Camaro, I had an oil change at 1,000 miles too, but the first once I did myself was at 7500, the oil life is no longer what it used to be. They last longer and I save more money. I'm driving a V6 so it's not needed for me to keep it updated. A V8, for sure needs it at around 3,000, but you could be wasting your money. |

yeah, theres a lot of threads about modern oil tech. I was a 3k mi fiend as well until I educated myself. If you want to change the oil that often then it is of course your prerogative, lol. I did do the 1k mi oil change for break in purposes though. Now at 11k and S/C'd since 5k she seems to run better every day. :]
