DOD/AFM
Does any one now how to turn off the DOD/AFM. I want to be able to have it off without using a tuner. Possibly a fuse or a plug.

The Range AFM module that plugs into the OBD port is the only way to disable AFM without a tune as far as I know. There are a number of threads in the forum about AFM if you search.

use the range afm disabler or the diablosport sprint obdII module.
I use the diablosport one with no issues, no CEL, and I never remove it. |

We can get you a range disabler, a handheld tuner to remove it or we can tune it for you if your local. That is the only way to do it. We voted to turn it off, we see very little gains from them in the stock form. You generally don't even notice a difference in your mileage after you turn it off.

If you have a A8 and you dont mind manual shifting Move the shifter left for manual mode at any time downshift then upshift again and the motor will stay in v8 It will downshift automatically but you have to upshift with either the shifter or paddles I loose 2 mpg

I think Im one of the rare ones apparently but I live where there's a lot of highway driving and not much city driving. With mine disabled I saw around 4 to almost 5 mpg loss.

I'm pretty sure the purpose of AFM in the auto is like "skip-shift" in the manual tranny. To save us from paying a gas guzzler tax and make the EPA happy. Doesn't really help MPG much.
But disabling either with a tune will void warranties. Which doesn't really matter if your car has already exceeded them.

I get similar numbers. Usually 29 to 30 best was a 33mpg on a 400 mile trip after disabling it with a tune I got 25 both ways on an almost 500 mile round trip

I like the AFM, 34 mpg on a 300 mile trip was my best.

That's not terrible by any means, a 500 mile round trip would equate to about 2.5 more gallons of gas used, at $3.5 for premium that's only an extra $8.75; comparing 25MPG to 30MPG.
