Kurmee‘s first track day Out!

Kurmee‘s first track day

Thanks to the generosity of the people of this forum that share the knowledge and spend their time writing all the technical stuff down. But also those that just share the stories and photos. This has been 3 years in the planning but today Kurmee and I drove a track. Haha it was fantastically and we will be doing a lot more of it! I couldn’t have done it without this forum. With special thanks to TrackClub who was especially giving with his time and experience!
Thanks!

Nice.
Great little track. Checked it out online...pretty fancy place. Wish we had more like that around here.

Looked like you had a great day.

Yeah cool track, there is a lot of elevation change, which is cool. They really trying to bring in more international races, so smarten the place up a bit. I had a driver instructor for a few laps and let him set a good time in Kurmee also for me to work toward.
The number plate is real!
It was lots of fun.

Congrats! And thank you for your kind words.
The facility looks superb indeed. Reminds me a bit of our Calabogie Motorsports Park.

Very nice driving too and as such, I wouldn't hesitate to progress to Sport 1 PTM setting which would open her up a bit more while retaining Stabilitrak and TC.

Love the extra fender badges: a nice touch. Watch the RF brake pad given the plate may obstruct some air flow. I even flip my tow hook up to maximize cooling.

Most importantly: have bags of fun!!!

P.S. i have a special affinity to your color as thats what i test drove before finding my car

PSS have you also driven the International layout?

Thanks Trackclub
Yeah okay I will progress to sport 1 PTM, next time. Does the foot down on exit mode that GM claims will keep you in the right direction work in all PTM modes? To scared to try it just yet.

I will remove number plate next track day and turn toe hook up. Thanks for spotting that.
I haven’t driven International circuit yet, but have been taken round in a historic muscle car that won the infamous Australian Bathurst Race , we lost the muffler on the double bastard corner, so I will plan not to do that in Kurmee.

I am wondering though how the PDR will react when the circuit changes from the National to the International layout. Is there a way to store to different layouts for what essentially is partly the same course, same finish line. As the club regularly changes the layout.

Or do you have to re-map the gps track learning mode each time the circuit changes? Any thoughts?

I dont mash the throttle on exits but rather try to feel for rear traction progressively and yaw dependent. Even when in Race which still has TC. And clearly not with all off. Perhaps thats not the very fastest way but i dont want to learn bad habits as i drive other cars sometimes.
But i do believe the TC will retard throttle accordingly if one just floors it at the apex. But i dont really see much point in recommending such technique as proper, even if automation can deal with it.

I mark the start/finish on PDR every time i go out. Unsure if it remembers a specific venue a la other GPS timers. Perhaps somebody else can chime in and help us both.

Ps that ride in the historic car must have been uner fun

Cheers!

More "fancy" places or just more tracks? We do have Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the CTMP Driver Development Track, Grand Bend Motorplex, Shannonville Motorsport Park, Calabogie Motorsports Park, and Toronto Motorsports Park all in one province (also, Watkins Glen is only a few hours away in NY State). Kind of surprising there's so many when you think about it. Not that I would object to more though

Nigel

Thinking more of modern. New. Quality. Etc.

I was a shannonville regular back in my import days....not a good place for V8 performance I think.

I was liking the green lights at various locations letting you know the track ahead is clear.
