Apex 18'' group buy, 300$ off a set

https://www.gangup.com/apex/apex-18-...s-q1-2018.html

Anyone else here needing some 18's, look here. I am jumping in on this deal, I need some 18's for a dedicated slick setup.

I have 19's from apex currently and love them, great quality, weight savings and a decent price.

I've had some correspondence with Apex over the last days. I thought I'd repeat some of the questions that I had for Apex here as well to see what others with more experience have to say.

I'm an intermediate HPDE driver with about a dozen track days under my belt. I've been burning through GY SC3s. I want lighter wheels and tires. I want to put more durable tires (PS4S) on my OEM wheels and save track tires, for the track. My tracks are at least a two hour drive away, and I won't be trailering my car.

I think I want a staggered 10 inch (275 or 285) and 11 inch (305) width 18 inch, hyper black wheel setup. I don't want to go to a square 18x10 set up. I suspect that a square 18x11 set up has drawbacks. Apex recommended "18x10" ET25 with 275/40-18 tires for the front and 18x11" ET44 with 305/35-18 tires for the rear".

I understand that modest modification of the steering knuckle is needed. Has anyone posted the needed mod in this forum of YouTube?

The 11 inch wheel isn't listed in the GangUp page, I would hope it would be included. When is payment, at time of order or delivery.

Thanks!

I got a square set of Apex 18x10 ET 25 wheels and mounted 275/40/18s, and the pricier AC Delco 1LE-spec TPMS sensors from Rock Auto. So far so good on the street. I am adding 5mm spacers and extended-thread lug nuts from motorsport-tech.com to solve the track alignment clearance issue. I will report how that works out. My car is a little different, it is the v6 1LE, which is similar to a standard SS.

The wheels I got are the pricier FL-5, which is a newer and lighter design.

I didn't like the 18 inch tire choices, I'm going to look for a 19 inch solution.

They just had one for 19". No one was interested. I think they sold 9 sets...
Their pricing was a little high. $1900 for a set before discount.

Glad to see you guys haven't forgotten about us. There have been some hangups in the past after we promised to have a dedicated wheel for you all but things are different now and we are close to having it ready. In the meantime, if you have any interest in picking up 18" FL-5 or SM-10 wheels, now is the time to do that with guaranteed $300 off and free shipping in the continental US.

18x10" ET25 works well at all four corners with a 275 or 285/40-18 for a rotatable setup.

18x10.5" ET22 front and 18x11" ET44 rear is a great option for a staggered setup.

The 18x10.5" ET22 does fit the rear but will slightly poke in most scenarios. Only thing needed for all wheels at this point is a hub centering ring, which can be bought from many places right now and is something we'll be adding to the site within a few weeks as well.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you all may have!

- Cory

I love my FL-5s, 18x10 ET25 with 275/40 tires. I use and need a 5mm spacer in the front.
OEM lug nuts did not fit flush with the FL-5. I got some black extended thread nuts from Motorsport Tech that seat well on the wheels and get sufficient turns in spite of the spacers. They're black and match the wheels.

Apex, will you take a set of BMW spec FL-5s on trade for a set of new hubcentric Camaro rims?
