The tires are a fair point, but there are options to fix that.
I agree. The only reason i bought my 18 camaro ss was because it was a 1LE. I drove 2 different ss camaros and the were so boring!

To me the feel of the car on the 1LE is lightyears better than a normal ss....

Drives a regular SS and is bored? Puleeeze. Same engine and transmission as the 1LE and I'm guessing on the street/test drive, there's barely any discernible difference except ride quality will be worse in the 1LE.

Dont get all defensive. You may want to re read what i wrote. I said it was boring to me. I didnt say people who drive normal ss camaro drivers are bored. Strange reading comprehension.

That was a typo. I didn't mean "anyone". I meant you're probably the only person on earth who was bored driving an a regular SS.

The bushings make a huge difference. I don't recall the 1LE being any rougher. Tramlining is worse due to the tires. The eLSD helps when actually using the car as well.

You couldn't pay me to buy a regular SS... I tried to like them in 2016, and bought a Focus RS instead.

I'm probably not your average car buyer though.

If you are bored driving an SS, something is wrong. Or you drove an automatic.

I HAVE a 1LE, and have owned a regular SS before that. It was NOT boring. I tracked that sucker and it owned. Yes the 1LE is better. But both cars were extremely engaging and eager on the track. The 1LE just more so.

Lol, this forum is always 1le or go home. Hardly any love goes to the ss, even though its still a great handling car.

On that 2,500 trip overall as I remember it was like 24 mpg average in the ZL1. Lots of highway Rt 95 driving to FLA. I think I get like mid 20s on the highway and better on 45 mph roads. About 12-18 around town. And 3 mpg at Atco. If you can keep from pressing the throttle too hard it will do just fine. But the ZL1 is just a toy, so what is the point of owning it if you do not fully enjoy it? What is a smile worth?

Of course the M6 SS does better. I remember I was getting well over 30 mpg in steady 65-70 highway cruising.

But of course you don't buy a 650 HP car for good mpgs. So if that is a big concern do not get a ZL1. But then the thrill of driving that car just crushes mpg concerns for me.

They both have Touring. The ZL1 and the SS 1LE have the same suspension and tires. But the SS 1LE is a little lighter so the setup is stiffer on the SS. The SS 1LE is like sushi without the wasabi and ginger compared to the ZL1.

The ZL1 1LE is the ultimate track Camaro. But you pay for that skill in other areas.

the standard SS is a fine track car. In fact it is faster than the 5th gen 1LE on a track, but is a more comfortable car to drive. Is the CA6 SS 1LE faster? Yes in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing.

If you buy a SS 1LE and do not track it it seems to me you have wasted some $$. But if you just enjoy driving around in a fast track car for the rep, that's your call of course. But on the street there is very little difference. The SS is very enjoyable on a mountain road or on a race track. A better compromise do it all car. And the tires do not crack when it gets cold. And those tires are also expensive.

But I am not knocking the SS 1LE. Very cool. And I have wasted so many $$ on cars I do no want to think about it. So I am the pot calling the kettle being made of cast iron.

Not at all. I'm looking at buying my 78 year old mother a regular SS. (convertible specifically, although if I find a great deal on a Mustang instead I might go that route)

Just because it wasn't right for me doesn't mean it's a bad car, just not something I'd buy for myself.
