Good point and question. When I ordered the wheels, I asked Carlyle racing that same thing. They didn’t really get into a reason.. they just said that they recommend I run this specific tire. The tire looks pretty meaty and is kinda heavy, but I’m okay with that. The car drives awesome
Thank you!!!

My weld setup is about 50-60lbs lighter all together than stock wheels/tires. Definitely lighter options out there but I’m so happy with the look.

Thanks for the info. I actually ordered those tires for my 18x6 wheels and struggle to find someone to mount them since it’s such a stretch for the tire. Everyone says it’s too risky. I have a 215/55/18 Kumho now but the tread width is a good bit larger.

Front : 18x6 Weld Alumastar 2.0 w/ Mickey Thompson SR 28x6.00 18
Part number : 88B-1806255

Rear : 17x10 Weld S71 Beadlock W/ Mickey Thompson 305/45 street R
Part number : 71HB7100N72F

Also, I added a 1/4 inch spacer to all 4 corners. IMO, it provides the perfect

stance.

I’m guessing the wheel spacers also provided wheel clearance from the infamous brake rub and having to do a little bending. Which spacers did you use

I’m doing it for the street/rolls rear set up only. And my stocks for the track best of both worlds

I am also interested in doing the rear set up only also. can't hook up with the increased hp 836rwh on pump. I have been stuck in between getting 17's or the 18's. I thought the 17's would rub on the zl1. I would rather do the 17's vs the 18's. Do the 17's rub without the spacers? or are the 1/4in spacers a must and if so, what brand did you use? thanks

17's will not rub on your car. Weld, race star, forge star ect... they all have 17 inch rims that will work on the rear of these cars. I7x10 seems to be the size. The race stars might have been 17x10 1/2

If you haven’t already done it, look into BMR’s rear cradle lockout and adjustable upper/lower control arms. With a 305/45 17 et street R, and the rear alignment setup with close to 0 camber, your car should be able to hook.
17’s are good on ZL1’s. Also, if you’re trying to hook go for 17’s over 18. No rubbing without spacers. Any 5x120 1/4” spacer will work.
