In the process I ran across a link to the 2019 track prep guide, which still recommends the 500/1500 service. Guess I'd better go buy some oil today. I hope it's OK to link to the other forum. Couldn't find it on the GM site anywhere.

Congrats on the new ride! That link is perfect; in fact, I will add it to the original post. Have fun!

Is the diff fluid change at 1500 actually called for anywhere or just good practice? It's easy enough to do, and I have the fluid, but couldn't find a requirement for it anywhere.

I don’t think it’s mandated anywhere. But since it’s so easy and cheap to do everyone does it.

I’ve heard some have gotten a decent amount of sludge out of it.

Im doing mine in a few weeks before I bring mine out of hibernation. My car has 1700 miles.

Thank you for such a great resource for us new guys. I’ll be having my 500 service done very soon. 0-40 ESP vs. regular 0-40. What’s the benefit for a street only car?

Thanks.

Any issues with running the 0-40 ESP in a 2018 ZL1 even though it didn't come factory with it?

ESP is a different formula and was formulated for the LT4/LT5/LTA engines.

Of course not. There is zero difference between the 2018 and 2019 ZL1 as far as the engine. I've been running 0-40 ESP in my 2018 ZL1 since 500 miles.

Had the dealer change the oil and diff fluid at 550 miles. The oil/filter change surprised me as it cost $80 and that included Mobil 1 0-40 Dexos 2. I can't even buy the oil that cheap. Decided to use my GM freebie and didn't pay for it. The diff change was high, $150 including fluids.
I didnt have any pinch weld jacking pads or stands and ordered them yesterday. Next month plan on buying a set of 80 inch Race Ramps then will change the diff fluid again later this summer. Still conflicted if I want to do oil changes as the dealer charges less than what I can buy the oil for.

If You have confidence in your dealership’s ability to not leave oil stains, scratch the car or botch the oil change in anyway I would have them do it.

The oil is pretty pricey. I have the race ramps and they are great for oil and diff changes.

No drips on the garage floor. That impressed me. Tells me the tech took pride in their work. Time will tell.

Transmission change is unnecessary at the 500/1500 increment. Some members have done it after their first couple track days.
