Skip shift eliminator installed

I installed a skip shift eliminator a few days ago. about 15 minutes to install and it works perfectly. It took longer to get my car on jack stands than actually install the unit.

the first pic shows what comes in the package.

The second pic shows the screwdriver I used to disengage the latch on the connector. The skip shift solenoid is located on the driver side of the transmission near the top. There isn't much room but the install is very easy.

The third pic shows everything installed. Looks stock.

Thanks for sharing and including the detailed pics. Especially on the clip location. I have the exact same skip shift eliminator. Just haven't installed it yet since my Rhino ramps wont clear. On my list of things to get done.

We should all thank the engineers who came up with this design (been around for 20 years on various domestic 6 speed manuals). Helps stay clear of the gas guzzler tax when new but is cheaply and easily defeated once purchased.

I used the same amazon kit the week after I bought the car. Getting the stock clip off was easy with a long flat blade screw driver. Getting the CAGS eliminator top clip lined up & reinstalled into the transmission was a pain in the ass for me. Car on ramps in the garage with me flat on my back, there just isn't much room to get it back in. I could only get my fingertips to it &/or a screwdriver due to the transmission tunnel clearance. Took me maybe 15 minutes on just that part, but it did eventually go in, & I'm happy I did this cheap mod.

Accelerate harder in first and it won't skip shift. I daily drove a manual 04 GTO 10.5 years and a 13 ZL1 as a toy for two. Neither, ever, skip shifted

I know, but no one should have to adapt or change their diving style or feel because of it. Part of the reason people buy a stick is they each have personal driving styles.

Fair enough point but I didn't adapt as normal driving style was enough. What it the rpm point you have to exceed? 2000 rpm?

I'll add that when I'm tired, I often drive starting in 2nd with shift to 4th

When I first got my car I hit skip shift a very annoying amount of time but once I had it for a couple months that number was greatly reduced and now I don't even notice it is there.

Accelerating harder or leaving the transmission in first gear past 2000rpm is a waste of gas. Why not adapt the car to the driver for $15 and 15 minutes.

The more time you spend accelerating to speed the more gas consumed. The faster you can get to your cruising speed, the better.
